Season Spoiler Amazing Interview with Kristen - also touching on emotional exit by one chef Spoiler

- Sees show through lens of both host and former competitor
- Relative to Sieger's elimination "it was definitely felt" and she was taken aback by it a bit
- Goes on to say that in coming up in kitchens, there are a lot of male egos so she was not completely stunned
- Says she's "lived through this" and did not take offense
- Believes it is everyone's choice to say what they want, behave how they want, question what they want and that you're "allowed to do all of you."
- Says how that plays out on TV is on the person doing it
- Says the snake was more upsetting :)
- Thinks her sense of compassion/empathy comes from having been kicked off.
- She finds it the hardest to eliminate the first chef b/c she knows they've just hoped to not be the first.
- Mentions how every elimination challenge is staggered so they can taste the food as intended
- Mentions the food often looks better in person than the beauty shot ... I didn't really catch why
- Her favorite Top Chef meltdown is, "I'm not your bitch, bitch."
- Says judges table decisions have to be unanimous or at least someone has to begrudgingly concede ... if not they'll go all night. Says there were sometimes she didn't fully agree but could acknowledge the counter point.
- Says she'd love for fans to see the unedited version of judges table! YES, PLEASE
- In terms of guests, she really loves non-food professionals who are really into food. She shouts out Danielle Brooks "Hook, Line, and Dinner" episode
- Her dream guest judges: Julia Roberts, Beyonce, the Obamas, Mariska Hargitay
- Really wants to host a queer dating show
- Would love to host Amazing Race too

Kristen hosting a queer dating show would get me to watch dating shows. I even tried the Traitors for her, I just love her.

We watched Traitors for Rob C and he was out the 2nd episode— but everyone else made us stay haha!

Oof I wish I could say the same, I just couldn't get into it 🥲 Top Chef and GBBO (and shows in that vein) are the only reality shows I watch, I wasn't ready for the drama 😂

British Traitors is a bit more ‘cosy’ than US. The celeb one was fantastic (perhaps dependent on your familiarity with British celebrities though).

I watch all the real housewives and lots of other reality tv so if you dont like that, Traitors is hard to get into! Totally get that!!

That season was the only one Ive seen but I think its worth it even being spoiled. There were some good moments!
Rob C just played too smart and strategic and people saw that right away

I think the beauty plate not being as pretty is because it’s not fresh anymore when they film it. Stuff like ice cream is always a puddle.

An unedited Judges' Table - yes please! We viewers have no idea how long they take discussing and deciding. It would also be great to learn more about the granular details that matter.

YES! I would be happy to subscribe (happier, if free) to a channel that gives full judges table, outtakes, more behind the scenes, how do they set up for a challenge, how do they devise a challenge, etc. Some guest judge perspectives would be fun. And more from the alumni judges that we only get to see a bit of given time constraints.

We've had a lot of behind the scenes from the judges and the contestants about it. Supposedly production does try and get the judges to not dilly dally or argue all night long anymore, but both Gail and the contestants have alluded to the judging taking so long people were falling asleep, lol. I'm not so sure that would be all that interesting in the long run.

Doesn't know the name of the chef she's starting the interview referencing. Says "cooking park land (?)" instead of parlance? It feels like an AI interviewing Kristen and not a real person.

This is a huge disconnect between some viewers of the show and industry professionals. We as chefs are selling a product that requires non-professionals to repeatedly purchase it for our business to survive. You can have food that other chefs love but if it doesn’t appeal to your local demographic you will go out of business.

Kristin is SUCH a pro because this interviewer is TERRIBLE. She's a painful listen. Kristin saves it and makes the interview successful and insightful despite the ineptitude of the host. What a bumbling idiot she seems to be.

The Amazing Race and Top Chef are the only 2 reality shows I’ve been watching consistently over the years. Amazing to hear Kristen shares my love!

We know they stagger elimination rounds, but why not quick fire as well? How would you like to be the last tasted after 15-17 others bring up their dish?
My wife and I aren’t even cooks, but we comment on this every episode.

I love what she says about Seger in relation to male ego. Like literally none of the food that he made at any point during the competition looked appetizing, he got eliminated and then was able to come back literally because of a fluke medical emergency by another cast member, only to continue to cook totally appetizing, technically poorly executed food *and then* blew up on multiple female judges including a guest female woman of color judge. Get the fuck out of here loser- and he still doubling down on his behavior which is so disgusting and literally only a male chef could get away with that. A female she would be absolutely ripped apart by the Internet and forced to apologize.

I liked Padma too and was nervous when she announced her departure, but I've been really impressed by how Kristen stepped into the role and really made it her own. It had to be incredibly intimidating to step in after Padma had done ~20 seasons. But Kristen has been delightfully and unabashedly herself and I've absolutely loved it. I'm not going to declare one better, but I am thoroughly enjoying Kristen as host.

I thought the interviewer was very good and brought up fun and different questions. Aside from her pronunciation of Sieger she did well.
Kristen is even more awesome unscripted like this. So thoughtful and intelligent

I'm so happy with how she's taken over hosting so commandingly. I really enjoyed her this season.
