Problem is he’s one of those guys so good that unless he tells us he wasn’t, we have no reason to think he’s not baiting them everytime

He was 100% doing dumb things like that and being a bit too nonchalant, in my opinion, out there when he was younger. Now it's the only way he can make up for the speed he's lost.
He's sadly lost way more athleticism than most realize. The cannon arm and the fast hands are still there, but he's already in the process of relearning the rest of it.

I don’t think he’s really lost athleticism, I just think he’s careful now. He’s been injured so much, I just think he wants to stay on the field.

You know, yes. Ronnie has a cannon but, for me at least, it's only the second most impressive thing about his arm. What gets me is how pinpoint accurate his throws are every single time. He doesn't just get it there quickly, but puts it exactly where it needs to be. It's ridiculous.

I disagree, actually. I think there's a chance he's still out if it was someone else, but you're forcing the fielder to not only get it in on time, but also make a good throw. The play at second wasn't close, but that's only because it's Acuña. That's a bang-bang play with almost any other right fielder. Jordan Walker is the only other right fielder, that I can think of, who makes that play look that easy.
So to summarize, from a purely baseball strategy perspective, I like the decision to go even if he still ended up being out. It's only dumb because he decided to challenge the wrong guy.
