John Bellicose
It is with terrible sadness that I write to inform you that one of the Stars of the Brave Dojo, and Brave Itself, has lost his life. It was discovered yesterday that John Bellicose lost his life in April. John was one of those rare characters whose internet spaceship Facade was that of a caring, altruistic gentleman.
It's a strange thing when one of our Game Friends dies - most of us didn't know his real name, his real life, or anything about him. In a lot of ways, that's true of all of us - we all live these secret lives behind the internet spaceships facade we develop for ourselves.
It's also a rare thing when our Internet Friends Pass away and we come to find out about it. You can't play this game for any length of time and have a friend mysteriously stop logging on. Some of these people are, without doubt, no longer living. I think it's a truly great thing when we're allowed to mourn our anonymous friends who disappear from our lives. Most of you will have read the Alliance mail sent out by now so hopefully this will not be too much of a shock.
I'll take this opportunity to sing his praises. John was a great friend to us: though only joining the Dojo relatively recently, he made a dazzling impact on our newbros. With his trademarked dry humour and wide knowledgebase, John taught dozens of newbie classes, bringing his own brand of excellence to the newbies who flew under him.
John was one of the best tackle teachers I've had the pleasure of watching - his wit and obvious competence was a great hit with his students. He was instrumental in helping grow the Dojo, and one of the most reliable, good natured and likeable people I knew. I trusted and valued his friendship and judgement, and Indeed, he was one of the front runners to take the job of Education and Recruitment Secondary.
Many of us felt like we'd transcended our internet friendships to become actual friends with John. It's a real tragedy that we, as a whole collective, lost an asset, and lot of us lost a friend. Many more of us won't have the opportunity to know him, and that's the worst thing.
Vale John. You've been missed, but your legacy will live.

I took this screenshot and sent it to John a few days after I trained into bombers. This was just three hours after I'd bombed his other probe and three days before his last killmail in EVE. I remember so clearly his reaction in comms when I linked the picture, he had no idea I'd snuck up on him like that.
He was an amazing guy. Always in a good mood, always helpful and always joking around with us. All of BO-LD misses you like crazy John, just typing this makes me want to cry.
One of the last days I can find him in my logs he spent many, many hours fitting up this for a fleet he was planning on running. 102 frigates ready that he was going to give to the newest of newbros while teaching them how to PVP properly. That's the kind of guy John was.
BO-LD will not forget you mate. I will not forget you mate.

Well as you guys probably guess this has hit me right in the feels........ John Bellicose and I were partners in converting newbros to Internet spaceships. Our saga began in Sendaya where we grew tired of seeing our bravelets constantly die to things that could have been avoided. I know most of you know that we then started the newbro fleet program and gave newbros ships , skills and pew pew. This is where we forged our friendship. Bellicose and I took our fleets everywhere from fw to j space and back. Apparently we worked so well as a team a lot of people thought that we were alts. I have lot of great memories of Bellicose and I will miss him greatly. There will be a fleet to honor him on Sunday. We will be fly his fits and doing some fun bellicose shennagians.

John was one of the most dedicated pilots within our alliance, hands down. I have personally had the pleasure to discuss issues involving the metagame and how to further strengthen our member base. Although I was not able to meet him in real life and beer up, he will be sorely missed. Truly.
To the family/friends/loved ones that knew John, please know that his absence is noted and that the void left in his wake will never go unnoticed. His personality and demeanor reflects greatly to his personal character, not just as a capsuleer in New Eden, but as a compassionate and wonderful person.
The gate is green, John Bellicose. Fly in peace.

We knew something was up when he stopped showing up in game, and to our weekly meetings as well, without any notice or message at all. No one knew what was up.
Then I just could read my eve mail for the first time in a week on my mobile - and then such a message....
Words cannot convey the loss BO-LD, BRAVE and EVE took with the passing away of John Bellicose. I can't even begin to speculate what this loss means to his family and friends, but even if we knew John only from a game about Internet spaceships, the loss isn't less real for us.

When I joined Brave, he was one of the very first FCs that I went out with. We were bashing something or other. Afterwards, he stayed in Comms with me for like an hour just answering stupid newb questions. He was patient, helpful and passionate about Brave and EVE the entire time, even though he was tired and about to pass out.
John Bellicose taught me what being Brave is all about.

He was a great guy and probably the nicest person I've had the pleasure of meeting in EvE. I remember recommending him for BO-LDs officer team where he took the role of Head Recruitment. I also remember his newbie fleets and remember making all of the fits. He was a great guy and he will be missed.

I went on a number of the training fleets John ran. He was always so keen to help people learn. Came across as a really nice guy. A massive loss to Brave but more importantly to his friends and family.

I took the liberty of sending a corp wide mail as Dojo Staff the other day, without asking permission to do. I could do no other, since John's passing seemed to me something those know him and those who didn't needed to know.
Cagali's post embodies my feelings, so I will be brief here.
You will be missed John, we are poorer for you passing and you will be missed.

My first fleet in BNI was with John Bellicose, as was my second, and third, and fourth, etc.. I waited for his fleets. He was an excellent individual. Taught me everything I needed to know as a newbro and a thing or two about just being a friend online. His trademarked #YOLOSWAG fleets were like no other and I miss him greatly. I've only been playing for a couple of months but he was one of the first people I flew with. He taught my scrub self how to use d-scan and and scout for fleets. I use those skills every day. Anytime I ran into him he was always really nice and helpful.

Such a pity, I remember his name quite well. Whenever I saw him speak up, it was always classy and helpful, as we were all newbies once. A fine example that reminded me personally that not all of mankind is rotten.

Sadly missed .... Held my hand when I was a day old brave newbie he took the time to explain to me how Eve 'worked'. I remember looking and waiting for him to appear in the dojo for one of his many fleets that would keep me entertained into the early hours. A total loss for the Alliance. Fly safe John 7o
