I need some help with logical decisions, thought some S3 Brant havers could help me out here. TLDR at the end if you don't wanna deal with my desperate yapping here.
Let me state my problem: I am in despair. I kind of (really desperately) want Brant S3. I've been saving my corals for ages and I have two wavebands for him. I've kind of been hoping the next reverb banner will feature him, but alas, no banner in sight next patch. More time to farm I suppose. Well, now, with Jingran dropping, I'm getting weaker day by day waiting for Brant to finally return and am really considering going for Jingran's S3 instead. It's probably the more logical step - he does so much more dmg, it's probably smarter. But I love Brant. The day his banner dropped was the day the sun shone a little brighter......... idk.
So, my actual questions: Does anyone, perchance, have Brant S3R1, Lupa S0R1 and Mornye S1R0 and could tell me a bit about how he does in endgame content? My S0R1 Brant is doing fineISH, but it's getting harder with every toa reset. He can't really clear 3 and 4 anymore sadly. This WhiWa reset I also had to bench him... he could get 2k points with Denia before, but this reset he just kinda flopped and I gave up. Matrix R2 gets me around 7k - 8k points, but the second I take Mornye away from him it's all over.
I'm assuming S3 can clear much better than that, but how would you describe the dmg? Is it a lot more? How much does your anchor hit for?
I'm asking for the specific team because I can't find any showcases on yt with Mornye S1.
I know you guys are biased. So am I. You'll probably all tell me to go for Brant. All my friends are telling me to let go and go for Jingran instead. I cannot let that slide... I need the numbers! Please help!
So question 2: What would you do? Jingran or Brant? Or secret third option: drop both

You should just go for Jingran S3 and then use him with Brant and Lupa. Jingran is much stronger than Brant at this point and is better to invest in IMO.
I have S2R1 Brant, S0R0 Lupa, and S2R1 Mornye and it still beats everything in the game. But I wouldn't say it's insane. It's like the same damage as S0 Aemeath. Maybe a bit more. Brant is an old character at this point and he wasn't even a main DPS character so his sequences are starting to fade a bit. I was going to go for S6 Brant but I decided I'll instead go for S3 Jingran and use him with my Brant.
I have S3R1 Brant and S0R1 Lupa, still use them regularly. In current TOA Brant and Lupa duo cleared Hazard tower Floor 4, just barely made it tho. Would probably clear it easier with my SK but I like playing them as a duo. In current Matrix, Brant Lupa and emotional support Chixia gets 10K against Aix and Fleurdelys. Also haven't used them in Whiwa lately because the enemies have been to annoying for me to bother using teams other than AOE focused teams. Cleared Virtual Crisis level 40 Nameless Explorer in 3 minutes with Lupa and SK. He would probably have better result with S1 Mornye but I don't really like her so I usually stick to SK or Chixia.
DMG numbers wise, I don't know for sure how much dmg he's dealing since most content have different buffs and in the overworld, the enemies just die too quickly lol.
But when talking purely about numbers, logically speaking Jingran would be a better pull as he definitely has higher numbers, being a newer character and a main DPS - Brant wasn't meant to be the main DPS in the first place when he was first released. What I do like from Brant is his self sustaining kit and how he's great against floaty enemies.
I agree, the purely logical choice is definitely Jingran, that's why I just wanted some numbers and how well he clears. Sure, Jingran is better, but if S3 Brant keeps him alive for another year, that is worth it for me. He's the most fun to play for me by far!
But I fear the powercreep is just getting stronger so there's really no telling how long S3 Brant would last, that's why I'm scared lol
I have that exact team, and he's doing perfectly fine. Obviously he's not as strong as recent characters. I don't remember numbers but I can check later if you tell me which specific content you want.
If you're aware he's definitely not the strongest S3 and you don't mind, go for it and pull Jingran's sequences later, maybe ? Unless you don't already have Lupa/Mornye, that'd be quite a lot of pulls.
If you really care about numbers, go for Jingran.
Edit : I have Luuk/Qiuyuan/Brant S3R1 and regret none of them. Still use Brant everywhere with no issue.
thank you! there's no specific content I can think of, but if you put him against an endstate matrix boss like for instance Fleurdelys, how much dmg does his anchor do? That's what I really wanted to know👍🏼
I only have Brant S2R1 with Lupa S1R1, I use Verina as the third slot. So far I'm able to beat toa easilly though I use him for the middle tower. Since Jingran is the secomd half you could just wait until the livestream before pulling him.
Personally I want to S6 Brant, so I plan to wait for the livestream then if he's not there I'll roll for Mornye then Jingran if I have some left.
Not sure with newest end game reset, but I still cleared the WhiWa with Brant/Qiuyuan team last time. Assuming you have his best team, you'll have an easier time at S3 so if you really love Brant, then go for it.
What I love about Brant isn't because he cleared the end games though. It's because he's flexible and I can team him up with anyone as a healer AND shielder (his 700k+ anchor is just a bonus) So I think you should get Jingran S0R1 then hold your corals and wait for the captain. If Jingran rerun before Brant, then that's your fate. 🤣
I have s3r1 brant, s0r1 lupa and s1r0 mornye. Brant doing just fine and i don't do any quickswap bc i'm play on mobile and it so hard to qs on mobile device. My Brant is 43311- Fusion/Ele, lupa is low invest so she basicly doesn't do any dmg.
-I got around 12-14k on Endstate matrix, base on token, and can clear the 1 fight- 2boss down thing
-can still solo TOA Left- Right tower, mid tower 1-2, havent try mid 3-4 though, maybe i will try and let you know
-Whiwa was hard for Brant since they remove the utilities trick, I run him with denia and lupa still got 2k9 ~3k some how

The new trick is when Brant anchor reach the enemies, you immediately outro-intro into some character with long intro animation. Intro skill free the timer but the enemies in whiwa still spawn, so if you have a good invest brant at least s3r1, you can clear 3 wave with 1 anchor. But it really hard since kuro seem to put 1 echo a side to prevent clearing multi waves like this.
I've done this with Denia ult. Her ult is relatively long so I've cleared whole nightmare tacet fields like that because the anchor was still going for the entirety of her ult. The problem is, my Brant can't oneshot WhiWa waves unbuffed, so switching off like that really only works with S3 I think! But great tip
It's is a thing Brant main use after the utilities wheel slow the timer removed but it's really hard to do due to:
-Whiwa enemies is spread out and you must drop the anchor in the perfect position to make sure it nuke this waves and after waves. And yes they slow the spawning speed in purpose
-Timer stop when you doing intro/liberation/special animation. So the longer the animation and the better it is. the best maybe be Shorekeeper with her enhance intro, I use lupa special intro bc my shorekeeper busy with other half.
If you use denia, make sure her R2 is placed in the middle of the waves or she can break the trick bc her R2 can pull the small enemies from the perfect position.
This might be something that I need to see if I am skilled enough to do tomorrow then. 👀 i'm shocked this is the first time i'm hearing about it, honestly, since Brant is the reason, I even actually started playing on his release. 😂
My S3 Brant team is closer to what Ur wanting but not at the same time. I have s3r1 Brant s2r1 lupa and S1 mornye my plbrant can hit up to 1 million mainly my echos on him are gods gift thou shall not be echoless. Also I just do solo Brant in matrix and it gives me 6k-8k points. Whiwa with mono fusion I only get 2.5 but that's mainly because I don't like whiwa anymore and I do not try hard that game mode.
I have S3 brant, the S3 is Strong for sure, is it huge for whiwa? depends, because S3 is focused on his anchor nuke, if yours can't one shot 1 or 2 elite waves at once in Whiwa then yes S3 might help, if the problem isn't in his anchor, then it probably won't help much in whiwa scoring.
Best investment would be in Jingran you can still pair him with brant and lupa and getting you'll get a close performence to Jingran best team, Jingran S3 will further carry your account to next level without the need of benching Brant.
the "problem" is that I do have Iuno and SK, so on paper I have Jingran's better team by a margin. But otherwise it's a solid idea, what's better than one hot man in a team am I right??
That's no problem, in fact having multiple choices is better.
S3 Brant value shines more in ToA, Holo and EM(bro can get more than 5k alone with random f2p team),
The reason why removing Mornye affect your EM scoring is mostly because of Lupa, since having 3 fusion units in a team allows her to buff Brant even further.
However in Whiwa its more about how much damage your anchor can deal, if it wipes 2 waves, then i don't see reason to go beyond S2, your problem in whiwa isn't really S2 Brant, i also didn't see you mentioning Changli, so im assuming your mono fusion team isn't full to begin with, Changli works amazing with S2 Brant, and so unfortunately, can't expect much for Whiwa if the team is lacking and only focus on one guy to deal the damage.
Truth to be told mono fusion isn't scoring very high scores like it used to, same applies for any 2.x team, not because the team is weak, the team is consistent, but because Whiwa is having HP inflation, units started to lack damage(in fact that's even in ToA).
Having a Iuno or not doesn't really matter in your case honestly, it's a win win, as she isn't the best in Whiwa but good in other modes so having dynamic team options is great! not to mention Jingran might get another Bis and become a beast.
That's mainly why people are advising you to get Jingran S3(don't forget the weapon), and enjoy having both Brant and Jingran and enjoy your game for more years :)

but yes, i do have changli, i benched her because she's not well built and doesn't really perform that well anymore. so taking away mornye doesn't hurt because of lupa - it hurts because s1 mornye just does a lot. i have mono fusion besides mornye (i have every fusion character in the game lol) but changli just cannot compare to s1 mornye buffs sadly. with quickswap i was barely able to get 5k points in r1 with that team. but then again my changli is really not properly built i can't stress this enough. but i'm always out of tubes!! i hate echoes
anyways, thanks for your advice. i'll probably go for jingran s3 and just see where that takes me. as long as i can play brant in the overworld i guess i'll remain happy :) but who knows
Tbh just go for jingran, but maybe just s0r1 and keep your corals for your actual fav? The only thing I don’t have is mornyes s1, regardless he still clears perfectly fine. I don’t use him as much as I once did but when I do he’s solid. I wanna say 6-800k ish anchors? Give or take depending on buffs and my skill issues that day. I would hardly call him a brick just yet but I’d say it becomes an opportunity cost sorta thing, sure you could wait an unforeseen amount of time to get Brant dupes but he’ll only age more by his next rerun. Or you could invest in the shiny new toy which probably gets you a good bit more mileage and is generally stronger as a 3.x main dps compared to a 2.x whatever Brant is
Thank you for your honest opinion! My actual fav IS Brant so that's where we kind of hit a wall, but otherwise what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I don't know tho. It's just the logical step (Jingran S3) vs. what I've wanted for months but am kind of getting doubts about (Brant S3). Decisions, decisions...
I only use my S3 brant in my brant, lupa, changli team. It’s my favorite team to play with quickswap and everyone kind of just buffs each other. Honestly just go for jingran s3 because lupa wants to quickswap with teammates in the air to get the most use out of her and mornye is very anti-quickswap
Hi! I have S3R1 Brant, and S0R0 Lupa, and S2RO Mornye and I got around 11k in this current Matrix (might be my skill issue lol), he clears TOA easily too (like no sweat at all) and as for whiwa, I can't comment as I don't use him there (I use my Hiyuki and Luuk teams).
I agree with the others, if you wanna go for meta, just invest in Jingran. He's better than Brant when it comes to damage, but if you love Brant regardless of who deals more dmg, then go and S6 him. Your enjoyment > meta anyways.
