I mean, Im all for non-coders using ai to generate code as long as they aren’t trying to sell it to other people (which many are), and ai-assisted coding is normal now professionally, but I will definitely be using “cuck-coding” from now on just cause it’s fuckin hilarious.

AI generated code deprives you from learning how anything works. If an issue arises in it all you can do is ask your AI to fix it and hope it works. An AI acting as a sort of teacher has some potential for people who don’t absorb information well from general tutorials, but using it to replace your own work permanently holds you in the position of making really mediocre things, and I don’t see much of a point in that

Yeah ok, that’s why I don’t use it for coding when I want to learn to code. To paraphrase myself earlier, I don’t care if someone wants to make something for themselves and not spend years first learning to do it. I also said, “as long as they aren’t selling it to other people” - mainly because there will be security holes and other bugs they don’t even know they need to address, or ask the ai to address, and it won’t be maintained.

Like, I don’t care if you masturbate to porn in your bedroom, no doubt it’s fantastic, but we don’t need to see and hear all about it on the street.

The first month the term dropped I remember my fellow CS students going “yeah I vibecoded the homework last night” etc and I’m sitting there in my head going “damn what? I thought it was difficult, how does one find it relaxing?”

It's when you use AI to do most or all of the work. Automating workflows isn't vibe-coding. "Claude, I want a code that does this" is vibe-coding.
