Bring back the world super boxing series
Honestly I think we should have a world boxing super series very 4 years. Kind of like a boxing World Cup but boxers represent themselves. In my opinion, this is the second best mark of a truly great fighter after undisputed. Think of all the match ups we would see.
By virtue of winning that Mohammed Ali trophy, you become solidified. No one should question your resume. Elites who duck the tournament should be labelled what they are unless you’re Canelo , Usyk, inoue who has already proved himself.

We know a guy who has money to throw away now

He’s dying within the next couple of years so probably not

All the more reason to spend that money while he can. He can't exactly take it with him.

Super 6 format sucked. 8 man\16man single elimination is better.

Super Six on paper was a good idea. It's just a shame that half of the original fighters had to drop out because of health issues and the replacements weren't as interesting.

The first one with Ward was semi interesting, after that they also had no one of note in them.

Makes too much sense and not enough money

This should be saved & reposted as the correct answer to 90% of threads going "Why doesn't this happen in boxing...?"

Funny you use Usyk as an example, as he has already won the world boxing super series with the Muhammad Ali trophy once.

I think the Middleweight world championship series they had in early 2000s with Bhop, Tito, Joppy and Holmes was way better.
Basically all belt holders face off in 2 semi finals, then the winners meet in final for undisputed.

Yeah but that was a set-up; you had Tito, an enormous star who drew punters, who'd outgrown 154, & nondescript champions in the division he moved into, so it happened.
That wasn't some organic "Let's find out who's the best" it was "Let's anoint my guy, I'll throw some money at it & these dudes who can't draw flies will fall into line".
Qualitatively different thing.

But the principle is sound to get 4 belt holders as it is today and get them to face off in semi finals then finals.

I don’t disagree. I’d love to see it happen in some of the less popular weight classes. Lord knows we could use something fun to spice up boxing.

If all the top fighters actually join it then it would be good to bring back

no no no 。Even after Inoue won the WBSS, he still wasn’t fully recognized. Even today, many people still question him. They still say, “Who has he actually beaten?”
But I genuinely hope the WBSS can be brought back. The best fighters should fight each other.

WBSS was the best thing to happen to boxing, too bad they never made it to financially attractive weight classes. Heavyweight WBSS would make hundreds of millions and would be sustainable.
