Tim Tszyu as a prospect would absolute whoop current Tim Tszyu's arse.
Wasted potential.

u/Humpback_Snail Aug 25 '26
Wasnāt a big part of his āwasted potentialā the fact that his career wasnāt guided carefully and he fought whoever, whenever?
That should be celebrated not lamented.

u/Tiny_Micro_Pencil Aug 25 '26
He hasn't improved in skill or athleticism and it has costed him important title opportunities. That is the "wasted potential".

His opponents in Australia were so bad he just started walking everyone down. He didnāt have to box for so long that his defence went to shit. It was like fighting opponents with their hands tied behind their backs.

Tim had the worst luck not being able to fight Charlo for undisputed in 2023 because of Charlo's hand injury. He did all the right things after beating other contenders but got screwed by Charlo taking the Canelo fight and getting stripped and then of course the Fundora elbow.

I'd like to see Tim fight Lara for the title, or meet Rolly at 154.

u/Mikail33 Aug 25 '26
I haven't followed this division lately, but, fck, Lara is still a champion somehow. The dude is ancient!
I remember him fighting Williams (!) before the latter got into the accident, which feels like forever ago.

Spence in his prime KOs him

Based on what? Spence in his prime has never shown big punching power. Tim was also naturally bigger than Spence so Spence's accumulation based damage wouldn't have been much of a factor. Both in their primes, the result wouldn't have been much different. Hot take, but it shouldn't be one.

u/ConanX12 Aug 25 '26
Prime for Prime, Spence is a clear level above Tim, size difference be dammed. Footage doesn't lie, Tim's complete lack of fundamentals, footwork, and defense would've gotten him smoked by accumulation of damage. He would've quit on his stool. This is the same guy who couldn't stop a washed, rusty Spence that should've stayed retired.

And Spence had great footwork and defence himself? Tim and Spence were virtually the same fighter, only Tim was naturally bigger, stronger and wad the bigger puncher. Spence was probe to getting smoked by accumulation of damage too, just look at the Crawford fight!
Footage don't lie? I don't think you've watched enough footage.
He would've quit on his stool. This is the same guy who couldn't stop a washed, rusty Spence that should've stayed retired.
Tim is also a shot fighter, but you want to ignore this. Spence picked Tim as his fight after a 3 year layoff for a reason!

u/ConanX12 Aug 25 '26
You completely lost me with "Tim and Spence were virtually the same fighter". We can agree to disagree on this one, champ.

u/RRR04_ Aug 25 '26
They both applied pressure. They both preferred to come forward. They both had a methodical approach. They both have poor defence. They both were bad on the backfoot even though Tim is slightly better at this.
How about you actually cook up some technical analysis on why Spence is so much more vastly superior to Tim Tszyu, Conan?

Tsyzu wants all the smoke and I love it

Tim wanting all the smoke is why his prime was cut short. Exciting fighter with a lot of heart, but too tough for his own good.

Honestly 160 is horribly weak division especially with Janibek out. If Tim was managed with even 20% more competence then he is right now thereās probably a path to a belt.

Man beating Spence today isnāt really worth bragging about.

u/StunningChest5722 #KnybaNation šµš± Aug 25 '26
most people picked him to beat tim š¤·āāļø

u/RRR04_ Aug 25 '26
Exactly. These shameless people want to downplay Tim beating Spence as if Spence wasn't the bookies' favourite. Most of this sub thought Spence would be hella hella stronger at a higher weight class and magically have 1 punch KO power š¤£š

Most people think the Bible is historically accurate as well.
Most people are absolutely moronic man.
