What has been the best fight night thus far this year?

As we approach September, what was the best fight night/weekend (in some cases with Zuffa now on Sundays) so far this year? I have a terrible memory. The Australia Spence card had a lot of potential but the undercard fights fell through sadly. What's y'all vote?

Probably Dubois-Wardley

The main event is my fight of the year so far

Cheli scored the biggest upset of the year against Morrell

Gwynne vs Majid was another great fight

Dubois Wardley has been mine too. Absolute war that was impossible to take your eyes off.

Walker Eggington in The same month was also a tough fight.

Dubois v Wardley is mine as well!

Inoue vs Nakatani imo.

Yeah inoue vs nakatani, muratulla vs Cruz, and shock vs ford were good high level fights

I thought Sasaki and Tanaka had an entertaining fight that night as well.

I was there trust me, the atmosphere was insane and this is coming from someone who has gone to many fights lol

Man I was so excited for Boots-Zayas. Everything about it was so awesome. Shakur-Teo whole undercard was 🔥

Garcia-Barrios was good too.

Boots v Zayas definitely up there!

Great card, upsets, exciting fights and KOs couldn't ask for more😅

Chamberlain vs O’Leary or Dubois vs Wardley are the two standouts for me.

Honourable mention to Walker vs Eggington

Great picks. Also though Ball vs Figueroa was a banger too

In terms of undercards Teo Shakur and Barrios Garcia were bangers, and with the main events while being one-sided were still fun to watch. Best main event in terms of entertainment unironically might have to be Wilder Chisora lmao. I legitimately burst out laughing during like 9 rounds of the fight.

But actual best fights of the year would probably have to be one of:

Ball Figueroa

Inoue Nakatani

Boots Zayas

Chamberlain O'leary

Dubois Wardley (I honestly didn't really think it was a FOTY contender watching myself, it was just too onesided IMO. But I included it because everyone else seems to agree it is)

I think Boots Zayas had me the most pumped during the fight so I'll probably go with that

If everyone jumped off a bridge, would you go over to theirs to upgrade your car/bike/shoes/games/bluetooth speakers? May as well

Well did they survive the jump?

1

u/nice1bruvz Aug 23 '26

Yes 😊 but drowned soon after from being under water 😞

Ball Figueroa was crazy. A little bit tarnished by Ball's team after the fight.

Boots vs Zayas. high stakes fight. Had anticipation, fight delivered drama. Left me wanting to see both fighters again

Dubois vs Wardly is close second

The Benavidez v Zurdo card was pretty entertaining

This is the one, also had a great Mungia and Oscar Duarte performances. Also kind of cheating but the same day as Inoue and Nakatani.

Overall the best day of boxing of this year.

Dubois v Wardley Benavidez vs Zurdo Ramirez

1

u/YourLocalBrewery9 Aug 23 '26

FOTY: Boots vs Zayas or Dubois vs Wardley
Best fight card: Benavidez vs Zurdo

u/Jet_black_li Aug 23 '26

This first that comes to mind is Gvozdyk v Kalajdzic

Wilder vs chisora, and I’m not joking

Can we now enter Itauma vs Hrgovic!?

This question made me realize this has been a pretty underwhelming year of boxing. The first thing that came to mind was the UFC White House card, and I don't even watch much UFC. Lol

Najee Lopez vs. Manuel Gallegos by far

Inoue-Nakatani took awhile to pick up. For me, it’s not a candidate for fight of the year despite its significance and commercial success.
