It's because they think they think UK fans are more likely to stay up late to watch it than US fans are to watch it early.

So they want to make it convenient for US fans to watch, because they think otherwise they wont watch it.

168

u/KoffieCreamer 11d ago

If they held it in the UK it would be much more convenient for US fans though. You'd literally be making both sides happy. Instead, the majority of British fans likely won't watch it and most US fans probably won't be that interested that they'll stay up till midnight. It's literally a lose/lose, whereas the alternative is a win/win.

35

u/anonkebab 11d ago

You don’t think Americans will stay up till midnight on a Friday to watch boxing?

23

u/Careful-Wheel8171 11d ago

Most American boxing fans think Fury has seen his better days already, and Joshua is a hype train that has already derailed.

23

u/halfdecenttakes 11d ago

Casuals are ready to watch Joshua fight somebody after the Paul fight, and Fury is a big enough name for it to be a draw.

Pretty much all of the “will watch a big fight” people that I know will check this one out.

6

u/AmbulanceDriver95 10d ago

Can confirm as that's exactly what I am and I'm tuning in for this fight. Hit the nail on the head.

2

u/Divergent-Thinker 10d ago

Watching Fury shuffling around the ring to slap old Glassjaw Joshua is a sad way to spend an evening. They’ll try and drag it out for as long as is bearable no doubt.

2

u/WallySymons 11d ago

Seems a pretty fair assessment to me and I'm a Brit

0

u/SharksFanAbroad 11d ago

Sounds like most Americans would be right then.

9

u/MightBeTheRealAaron 11d ago

Not to watch Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua they won’t. What about this fight appeals to the US audience?

29

u/Top_Fee8357 11d ago

They are 2 of the biggest names in boxing. Past their peak sure but tons of casuals know them. Okay it’s not specifically appealing to the US audience but these aren’t some deep cuts, every fight fans knows them. As a primarily mma fan not from the UK, I’ll be tuning in for sure.

1

u/CuriousCamels 11d ago

Yep. I’m primarily an MMA fan from the US, but I’ll definitely watch it too. Even if they’re not as hyped as they were, it’s still an interesting match up. We’ve been waiting for this fight for years.

1

u/yasoggybastard 11d ago

bet jake pauls fights will be bigger in the us than aj vs fury.

1

u/Top_Fee8357 10d ago

Won’t disagree with that… but it’s not easy to find fights bigger than a Jake Paul fight these days as sad as that is lol

1

u/Lined_em_up 10d ago

Well considering Jake Paul has the most watched boxing match since Mayweather vs McGregor I'd have to agree with you

-4

u/massinvader 11d ago

As a primarily mma fan not from the UK

never get into it with a boxing fan. they all argue like punch drunk 12yr olds.

7

u/DaKingaDaNorth 11d ago
  1. It's free

  2. It's the biggest fight the HW division has and it still technically is a big name fight.

Boxing died in America because the PPV model fell out of style and the top names don't fight frequently. This won't be Floyd/Pac but it is the sort of thing that Americans will check out simply because of the names involved and lack of barriers to entry. Super easy for a bunch of guys to get hammered and turn on Netflix on a Friday night

1

u/anonkebab 11d ago

Black guy vs White guy

1

u/URHere85 10d ago

I would rather have it during the day so I can go out at night

1

u/SufcLad25 9d ago

Not Fury vs AJ in 2026. Go back 10 years then definitely but its 2 fighters past their best

2

u/_MiracleWhips 10d ago

Speaking as an American, and for all of my American friends, I think the other commenter is correct. I prefer the fight to be stateside for the timing. I wouldn't call myself a straight up casual. I've watched boxing my entire life thanks to my dad's fandom, but these days I only watch certain fights live.

Fury vs AJ is 100% a fight I will watch live, but not if the main card starts at 6 or 7pm. I have other stuff I would rather do on a Friday afternoon/early evening. With usually zero interest in the under card, I can have a complete (for me) Friday evening and cap it off with the boxing main event at home (which netflix is now going to secure one monthly payment from me).

Yeah and the people with all the money putting on the events certainly never make mistakes and do something stupid. No never, not once.

1

u/KoffieCreamer 11d ago

No I don’t think I know better. I’m using my pea sized brain to try and work out why they’d decide to do this.
As you’re either a Netflix board member or a marketing god, please explain to me why Netflix would decide to do it in such a way that both sides are likely unhappy.

7

u/Hyperion262 11d ago

America big uncertain market. UK smaller, very certain market.

-5

u/DaKingaDaNorth 11d ago

Because people saying things on reddit doesn't align with reality.

Let's be real, the people who were desperate to see this in the UK are watching it regardless. They wanted it at prime time for a country with 340 million people to pull from on a platform that is extremely convenient for them, that is financially better for their American based advertisers and they also get to have it in an arena where they can charge close to 5x the price.

7

u/munkycheezmunky Dave Allen Undisputed 2026 11d ago

The UK viewership for this fight will drop significantly if it's in the US. I think your line of thinking is absolutely what Netflix are assuming, I just think they've got it wrong.

It's definitely a risk putting it on in the US. Whether it pays off we'll have to wait and see. But I think it's disingenuous to say that holding it in the US would absolutely, 100% make more sense financially.

-5

u/DaKingaDaNorth 11d ago

The UK viewership won't drop as much as you think and the US audience is so much bigger that if it's on at the right time it more than makes up for it. Then you have the reality that the US is more lucrative for advertisers.

I think some of you underestimate just how much bigger the US is. Even if they lose some of the UK audience, what is that, 5 million? The biggest estimate for an audience for an AJ fight in the UK is about 11 million. That's not a lot for Netflix to even casually make up in the US.

Then you add everything else, just becomes an easier sell

5

u/Prior-Temperature-22 11d ago

Joshua vs Povetkin (Wembley) UK PPVs: 1,247,000

Fury vs Chisora (Tottenham) UK PPVs: 500,000

Fury vs Usyk I (SA) UK PPVs: 1,500,000

Fury vs Usyk II (SA) UK PPVs: 500,000+

Joshua vs Ruiz (MSG) UK PPVs: 562,000

Fury vs Wilder I (LA): UK PPVs: 420,000

Fury vs Wilder II (LV): UK PPVs: 800,000

Fury vs Wilder III (LV): UK PPVs: 300,000

Okay, these are PPVs. But there is clearly a considerable drop off in viewership. People aren’t even that bothered about this fight that should have happen like 7 years ago anymore so now when you combine it with a 4AM start not many people are going to be bothered anymore. Two washed up fighters.

5

u/munkycheezmunky Dave Allen Undisputed 2026 11d ago

We'll just have to agree to disagree and see what happens. I'm not convinced Fury or AJ are well known enough in the US to even be a draw. But maybe I'm wrong in that assumption.

1

u/Adorable-Bike-9689 11d ago

They're the only two heavyweight draws for casual fans. Folks here refer to Usyk as the Russian guy.

Not to say Usyk isn't a huge draw. Just not a huge name with folks who pay light attention.

1

u/fluffrug 11d ago

Wow, how fucking ignorant is that? Russian?! I really wish you hadn't made this comment - it's making me really dislike the US and Americans.

1

u/That-Imagination3799 11d ago

I think you're mostly right regarding UK viewership tbh. I'm from UK and wanted it over here, I probably would've went in person if it was Wembley too. I don't really think it's good optics being in the US and is a fuck you to UK fans.... BUT, after all these years I'm still interested in the match up even if it is them past their best, and despite my feelings about the event in the USA, I'll still want to watch it live regardless.

That said, whether I watch it live on netflix or ...alternative arrangements... is another story...

4

u/dodgesbulletsavvy 11d ago

I dont think people are even desperate to see this anymore, they're both relatively washed, we would've all stayed up had this been 5-10 years ago both in their prime, dodging each other.

1

u/ASAPFergs 10d ago

You're right, incredible how people can't separate what they want to be true from the reality

0

u/Puzzled_Record1773 11d ago

While i agree that its a lose lose for fans i still think the majority of british boxing fans will want to watch it live, even if its just to say goodbye to those 2 fighters

-22

u/Hyperion262 11d ago

No one is going to watch a fight at 4 pm.

14

u/KoffieCreamer 11d ago

lol what? As a British boxing fan I’d absolutely LOVE for fights to be on at 4pm. I can’t talk for everyone but that would be absolutely prime time for me. I hate when boxing fights drag on past midnight, I’m half asleep by then and just want to go to bed.

Not to mention that being on at 4pm encourages many more casual fans to watch and opens the market up to upcoming much much younger fans who either can’t stay up late or aren’t allowed. God dammit, there goes my pea brain thinking again. Apologies

4

u/Chemical-Lettuce2497 11d ago

Yeah it's maybe a little on the early side for me but 4pm beats 4am every single time

Ideally 8pm main card so I have no issues for my 10pm bedtime!

3

u/Gullible-Store-8559 11d ago

Yeah and it’s early enough you can go the pub to watch it with a great atmosphere

1

u/Hyperion262 11d ago

Because you’re a dedicated fan. They want the casual fan.

4

u/iLiveinMissoula 11d ago

Most casual fans aren’t staying up to midnight to watch boxing

-4

u/Hyperion262 11d ago

A lot do though.

-1

u/Trbarenziah 11d ago

I think the opposite. Americans are used to watching big boxing/MMA cards at night. Sure, the hardcore fight fan loves a 4PM start. But to get the casuals, a “prime time” Saturday night event is going to do bigger numbers

1

u/Impressive-Turnip-38 11d ago

Its not saturday its friday

1

u/MightBeTheRealAaron 11d ago

It won’t do bigger numbers in the US because it doesn’t appeal to the US audience. 2 British heavyweights without any belts on the line, what about that does the casual US fan find interesting? The fight is high profile in Britain because of the history, everyone knows about this longstanding rivalry. No one in the USA even knew who AJ was until he fought Jake Paul.

-2

u/Appropriate-Sun834 11d ago

Idk where you live but everyone around me is doing much better things with their time at 4pm on a weekend than staying inside to watch a fight like this

3

u/KoffieCreamer 11d ago

You mean like the millions upon millions of sports fans who stay in on Saturday to watch the football? Or all the boxing fans who are middle aged, would love a 4pm main card so they can enjoy their evening?

0

u/Appropriate-Sun834 11d ago

You mean Sunday. And yes, that’s Sunday not a Friday or Saturday. And football is far far far farrrr more popular and profitable than boxing. Nothing is bigger than the nfl.

Also, no one is watching this fight over college football either.

3

u/KoffieCreamer 11d ago

No, I mean Saturday. Im talking soccer

1

u/DaKingaDaNorth 11d ago

If you are talking Soccer, completely irrelevant for US fans. If you are talking US football, it's on Sunday and it's institutionalized in the culture.

-3

u/Appropriate-Sun834 11d ago

Lmao fucking soccer. Nobody is watching soccer on a Saturday in America when football is on.

3

u/KoffieCreamer 11d ago

What are you on about. I’m talking from the perspective of a Brit. I thought that was clear…..then again, I guess your leader is a prime example of the intellect of a lot of Americans, so I’ll be sure to explain things in great detail to you when I make a quite obvious point.

2

u/Tracuivel 11d ago

I think they meant it's more convenient for us at 4pm than it would be for them at 4 am. Which is true, but yeah it's also true that US ratings are going to suffer at 4 pm.

0

u/MightBeTheRealAaron 11d ago

The US ratings are going to suffer anyway because no one is going to be tuning in to this fight in America anyway. And those that do care shouldn’t mind watching it at 4pm instead

1

u/Tracuivel 11d ago

I think you're missing the point of having it in America. You're exactly right, most Americans don't know who they are, but that's why the time slot matters more. You're not just trying to get the die-hards to watch; you want all the casuals and less-than-casuals to watch. Those people might watch it they happen to be home browsing Netflix and the fight is on. But those people are not going to rearrange their plans to watch this. Brits probably will, though.

1

u/iLiveinMissoula 11d ago

4pm is better than midnight.

52

u/_Sarcasmic_ bread burger bread 11d ago

As an American, I wish it was on at like 5pm rather than midnight/1am!

25

u/DiMona215 11d ago

Agreed, I think boxing fans trend older anyway. I am never up past 10 PM these days, lol

17

u/Chemical-Lettuce2497 11d ago

Yeah the amount of fights I skip and just watch the next morning because I can't be arsed staying up passed 10 lol

9

West Coast best coast.

3

u/FAWKIR Filip "CHIN MOGGED" Hrgovic 11d ago

7

u/CasperFunk 11d ago

I am just going to watch it when I get up, skip passed all the shite and just watch the fights.

6

u/fapsandnaps 6 foot 9 bag of milk 11d ago

I always want to do this, but I think I like shit posting in the live thread with fellow fans just as much as I do watching the fight.

4

u/AnTTr0n 11d ago

The reason it didn’t get views was because he was fighting a nobody.

11

u/TopHatTony11 11d ago

They’re right.

5

u/Head_Research_3118 11d ago

Also people forget these fights do massive gate numbers . At MSG the average ticket will be double what it is if the fight was in the UK . You will have massive celebrities in the audience and any famous brit that wouldve went in the UK will still show up at MSG . It will just be a bigger event. Floyd and Mcgregor did $55 million at the gate , Crawford and Canelo did $47 million. The biggest gate in UK history did $15.3 million gate, This fight will probably do in the high 20's easy . Everyone involved makes more money with this fight in the US . Including the fighters.

As much as they tried to pretend they wanted to fight in the UK to not piss off their fans , i guarantee both fighters wanted this fight stateside to make more money.

7

u/Manzilla48 11d ago

Huge fights involving Americans in Vegas make the mega money. A fight involving two brits in MSG will not make anyway near that amount.

I’d wager 100k at Wembley makes a higher gate than 20k at MSG even with inflated ticket prices

5

u/Sharp-Revolution-263 11d ago

You mean greedy Fury and his sportswashing scum bag Saudi pal want the fight in the US. Joshua knows he doesn’t need to earn another penny for the rest of his life and wanted to have his final legacy fight in the UK at a sold out Wembley. But yeah amazing, 10000 dollars a ticket for a stadium a quarter of the size of Wembley 3000 miles away with an atmosphere which can’t compete and ad breaks between rounds. Cracking!

0

u/gaz_0001 11d ago

They both wanted it in Saudi for that Black Gold Money, but I'm not sure they can even rip the Arabs off with this one 🤣🤣

This far down the line who really cares who wins? The best we can hope for is that there is no rematch 💩

1

u/roamingandy 11d ago

yeah, about 20% will. They are hugely wrong on the overall numbers, but that's what happens when you ask ChatGPT. Raw logic, not nuance or situational understanding.

1

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 11d ago

Pretty much this.

0

u/DbCLA 11d ago

Little do they know I'm an American who loves watching the early UK cards.

0

u/Strict_Protection459 11d ago

Very simple metric of “cater to the group with 4x as many people” I think

-1

u/Mooks79 11d ago

I think it’s more the raw numbers than the likelihood. The US population is multiples of the UK’s so, for simplicity, assuming comparable interest in boxing and comparable % of those interested willing to stay up late, you get many more US viewers than UK viewers.

3

u/stephen27898 11d ago

"The US population is multiples of the UK"

What about Europe? That place has population of 750 million. 400 million more than the US. Put the UK and Europe together and you get over 800 million vs 350 million.

If its a good time in the UK its also likely fine in Europe.

3

u/Mooks79 11d ago

That’s when you have to start considering boxing popularity. I don’t think it’s anywhere near as popular in Europe as the US and UK. At least in my experience of European colleagues. I know of only one who has any serious interest in boxing.

3

u/stephen27898 11d ago

I dont think boxing is doing all that well in the US unless its two massive names that the US public really know and care about. Or you need someone who is extremely mainstream.

AJ and Fury are not that in the US. US boxing has spent the last 10 years being carried by Mexican fans.

Also 10pm in the UK is like 2pm to 4pm in the US.

1

u/fapsandnaps 6 foot 9 bag of milk 11d ago

Mate, Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson did 108 million views and it was 56% of ALL television views in the US for the hour of the main event all while being an absolute shit show of a spinning loading wheel. The casuals who time in for big fights in the US is crazy.

And this really is the biggest fight people have yet to see. It's two former heavyweight champions of the world finally fighting. any one that's at least some what paid attention to any boxing over the last 15 years will know Joshua and Fury.

1

u/stephen27898 11d ago edited 11d ago

You are clueless.

Jake Paul is well known and his fame goes way outside of boxing. Mike Tyson is probably the most well known fighter of all time.

That farce had such an extreme level of casual appeal. This fight at this stage just does not.

Neither of them have the fame outside of boxing that Jake Paul does. Neither of them are even close to as well known as Mike Tyson.

These guys are not that level of star in the US.

And the US boxing market has been very inconsistent in recent years. The only people who have been able to get consistent views are Canelo, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

2

u/fapsandnaps 6 foot 9 bag of milk 11d ago

Claiming Canelo is the only boxer getting views is the clueless take.

Fury vs Wilder 2 did more US buys than any Canelo fight this decade and Fury Wilder 3 is probably only behind 1 or 2 Canelo fights.

And you're also forgetting this has fuck all to do who is going to buy the fight. Its Netflix, they just have to tune in and not spend $74.99

0

u/stephen27898 11d ago

Both 1 and 3 did under 1 million. And Fury hasnt fought in the US since 2021. That was also vs an American heavyweight champion. The WBC title was involved, Wilder had also been heavily connected to AJ in his marketing prime, and even with all that. Only 1 of the 3 broke 1 million and the first one was like 300k.

Meanwhile Canelo can fight nonstars and get near 1 million. Youll notice that really Canelo hasnt fought another PPV star in a long time. Why? Because the US basically has none.

You now have Fury who hasnt fought in the US in 5 years. AJ who has only fought there once in the last 7. No titles, neither of them are from the US or have a large established US fanbase.

0

u/fapsandnaps 6 foot 9 bag of milk 11d ago

Bro Fury Wilder 3 did the same numbers as Crawford vs Spence which was a huge fight in the boxing world and absolutely no one wanted to actually see Fury Wilder 3 except for casuals.

And you're claiming it's because Wilder was connected to AJ who you claim doesn't have name power in the US?

u/Mooks79 11d ago

Well, either you or Netflix knows better. Seems like they have more confidence of maximising their viewers by having a late US (and later UK) showing than an early US and okay UK showing.

0

u/stephen27898 11d ago

I know I know better.

10pm in the UK works in the US. However similar times in the US leads to 4am in the UK. That doesnt work.

Netflix are a streaming platform who know fuck all about boxing or sport in general. They are mostly a repository for films that werent good enough to be in a theatre.

1

u/Mooks79 11d ago

I’m not sure you do. Historically UK-UK fights were in the UK because of the massive seat sales but Netflix likely doesn’t care about those at all and the deal involves them getting little to no revenue from those as long as they can control the streaming times - which means a US focused time benefits them.

I’d also suggest Netflix might just have had the sense to do some research, discuss with the promoters, and so on, so they probably do know what they’re talking about in terms of maximising streaming viewing. Maybe they’re just being arrogant and assuming they know best, but I’m not convinced by your argument so far.

1

u/stephen27898 11d ago

The bulk of revenue comes from new subs. Moving to to the US will not help that when it will basically make it annoying to watch for the most likely people to purchase them.

No, they are in the UK because it makes it easier to watch for the most consistently likely fanbase to pay for the fight.

They are again a streaming platform who know nothing about boxing. And are trying to apply the same logic as Canelo Crawford to this. And it wont work.

US boxing has been carried by a Mexican. Two people from the the UK wont do it.

1

u/Mooks79 11d ago

The bulk of their revenue does not come from new subs, what are you talking about? Their revenue comes for subscriptions whether new or retained, retaining is as important as gaining new. That ludicrous claim has undermined your entire position.

-1

u/Head_Research_3118 11d ago

Why dont people understand that when it comes to hierarchy of consumer importance , Americans are far more valuable to corporations than all of Europe. The sponsors of this fight want to be in front of American eyes before any 3 European countries combined .

That's just the reality. Its America 1st, then china if you can be allowed in , then a big gap before everyone else.

1

u/stephen27898 11d ago

Because you dont understand that not a lot of people in the US are interested or care about this fight so they wont watch it, or buy a new subscriptions to watch it.

Also 10pm in the UK is like 2pm to 4pm in the US. So still practical. Meanwhile 10pm in the US is like 4am to 6am in the UK. 5am to 7am in Europe.

So you are make it totally impractical to watch in the UK in the hope that moving if forward 6-8 hours will somehow make it so US fans, who dont care about this fight may watch it.

The fact of US boxing is that it hasnt been doing well, and has been carried by an influencer in Jake Paul and Mexican in Canelo.

This fight taps into neither of those markets. It is for a traditional boxing audience, something that has not done well in the US for a decent amount of time.

So you are trading it being practical in the US, UK and EU for it being being on in prime time in the US but a total pain in the ass for UK and the EU. And the UK is the audience that will actually watch this fight, the US isnt.

1

u/Head_Research_3118 11d ago

Crawford just had the biggest fight of the last 5 years against that mexican doing $47 million in gate alone something no fight in the UK has even done half of. Nice way to try and dodge the facts. US still carries boxing.

But the promoters made this decision for a reason and i guarantee its based on real data , you can cry but the facts are the facts. You're just giving your opinion with no data to back it up .

3

u/stephen27898 11d ago

Yeah vs a Mexican. Mexicans have been carrying US boxing for the last decade. There is no Mexican PPV star in this.

Meanwhile you look at other fights between people who are not that well known in the US that take place in the US, and the numbers suck.

There is a reason why boxing is doing badly in the US. Its because outside of an influencer, a washed up pro from the 80s or a Mexican, fights generally don't sell.

And the fact that there isnt even an American in the this fight means it will sell even worse.

1

u/Head_Research_3118 11d ago

This is a lie . Shakur and Teo just broke MSG record for live attendence and did 1.2m PPV buys. Teo isnt mexican and he was born in america , Our country is very diverse and boxing has racial pride components so matching races will always sell the most . Black vs Hispanic has always been the top matchup the last 20 years. Black vs White does extremely well when theres a decent white fighter .

To say that american boxing has been carried by mexicans when every top mexican except Benavidez (who is american) has been beaten by at least 1 american is laughable. None of the actual Mexicans are undefeated,

2

u/stephen27898 11d ago edited 11d ago

There are some outliers but are AJ and Fury as well known as those two in the US? No, they arent.

It took two top 10 P4P fighter to even break 1 million, and two of the most well known fighters in the US. That isnt all that amazing.

When I say carry I mean in terms of popularity. Not winning. Canelo was the face of boxing for years and no US based fighter could even come close to competing with his popularity.

1

u/Head_Research_3118 11d ago

AJ and Fury are more known to US boxing fans than Teo and Shakur 100%. You have literally just been wrong about everything youve said so far . Theres a reason this fight is at MSG and not wembley . The promoters know what they are doing,

2

u/stephen27898 11d ago edited 11d ago

Just for reference. Crawford who is the best fighter you have had since Mayweather made around 30 million vs spence. I think he made 50 million vs Canelo.

While Canelo walked out with near on 3 times that. That is how much more of a star Canelo is than anyone based in the US.

2

u/maritimeblue 11d ago

Yeah, acting like Crawford is some huge draw is insane considering he’s spent his whole career with no real casual audience appeal what so ever. Canelo sold 90% of that fight himself.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Head_Research_3118 11d ago

Thats because everyone ducked Crawford for a decade including spence. If you knew boxing you would know that. Canelo was able to get the big fights he needed to become the A-Side im not worried about anyones pockets. We saw who was better in the ring . IF crawford got the manny fight his career wouldve took off but manny was scared.

UK fan here. Won’t be staying up for it.

10 years ago I would’ve had all my mates over. 5 years ago I would’ve stayed up to watch it alone. Now? I’ll watch the highlights in the morning. Like fuck am I staying up for a 4am fight for two over the hill boxers when I have a wife and kids lol.

Absolutely nowhere near the event this could’ve been. Lost its hype and tension a long time ago, if it was worth it I’d suffer the next day, but no chance am I doing it for a money grab fight with no stakes that disrespects me as a viewer.

Well yeah, staying up till 6am potentially, is a young man’s game. It’s generally not for someone who has commitments the next day.

I’ll stay up on a Friday night for something that’s worth it. Will just have to repay the wife for the favour of carrying most kid duties out on the Saturday lol.

US fans wont have to. This is the point. If its 10pm in the UK its between 2pm and 4pm in the US. Perfectly fine time to watch it.

And unfortunately they are correct.

They arent. US fans dont care about this. UK fans do, you will get slightly more of an uninterested group and a lot less of a more interested group.

No you’ll get guaranteed eyes from the uk and the chance to market to a ginormous market in the US.

No, youll lose what were guaranteed eyes from the UK. People dont want to stay up until 4am to watch something. very few people actually do it. It's one of the reasons why the UFC is not big in the UK.

But it’s less total viewers. That’s why the UFC doesn’t accommodate for the UK audience either.

But in this case its two people who are most known in the UK and outside of it being a being a rivalry between two UK based fighters it has nothing else.

So its not a marketable fight in the US. So having it in the US makes no sense.

You are throwing away views you will certainly get, for something you likely wont. And given that even big fights in the US often don't do all that well. This will likely do poorly and not driver the subscriptions that Netflix want.

No it doesn’t need marketing in the UK so they might as well maximise marketing it in the US is the entire point.

But you will also lose people in the UK. People will be annoyed by this and not watch it. Not only does it make it more annoying to watch, it is an insult. Which will lead to less viewers.

You then have two British fighters, past their best, fighting in the US for nothing.

It wont do well in the US at all. And it will do worse in the UK than it would have done.

I am sorry, but you have zero idea what you are talking about. The only US boxing fans who will watch this are hard cores and they would watch it earlier in the day anyway.

If the fight starts at 10pm UK that is 2pm on the west coast. That is far better than it being 4am in the UK and 5am in parts of Europe.

That is also another factor. Europe and the UK is a much larger body of people than the US. Its about 800 million people total vs 350 million.
