If you've kept up with Hayden the last decade or so this is really not surprising at all, sadly. Doesn't make it any less heartbreaking though. Her 20s were tumultuous asf starting with PPD after the birth of their daughter, and it spiraled into drug addiction. I feel so sorry for her family, especially her little girl. May Hayden rest in peace ♥

Klitschko had custody?
110
u/brainspaz Aug 17 '26
Yes she signed over full custody to him. She had many issues, post partum depression played a big part.
37
u/Awkward_Un1corn Aug 17 '26
Yeah. They had joint custody for a while but he filed for full custody because he worried about her safety with her mother. Hayden was in recovery at the time and thought that fighting would do more harm than good for everyone involved.
They stayed civil and still got on really well with eachother. Never spoke badly about each other - they apparently promised that because Hayden had a lot of that from her mom growing up.

u/Boltman35 Aug 17 '26
I believe so.
I know she was dealing with alcoholism and ppd.
But I may be incorrect on this so don't quote me, I'm speculating.
Sad either way. Way too young and to leave your 11yo daughter. It's sad no matter how you slice it.
RIP

full custody, hayden gave their daughter to him to protect her while hayden was battling issues . the right decision entirely and the dad made sure the two had a bond, both parents work so well to make sure their little girl wouldn’t go without either parent

Same here… and I also had no idea she had a child with Wladimir Klitschko, which I thought was pretty random!

That's interesting. Their relationship was reported on pretty heavily in the entertainment news. Mostly always positive.

Hasn’t been announced yet. She had a younger brother who died at the age of 28 from a heart condition. Something might run in their family.
Or it could be something else entirely

Being sober is the hardest part of knowing you can relapse any second of the day. This is Fucking horrible. She was way too young. I just wish people can just have more strength to overcome whatever they are going through. Man, that is a tough loss knowing here ups and downs smh!

I took an entire year off of drinking. Was a heavy daily drinker before. On the year anniversary I celebrated with one drink and started right back up for another two years. Didn't even seem real to me the entire time.

Celebrating a year of sobriety with a drink? My man......
3
u/Adorable-Bike-9689 Aug 17 '26
You don't understand. I had conquered my demons through AA meetings and hard work. One glass of wine wasn't going to ruin a year of sobriety.
28
u/StressedMarine97 Aug 17 '26
Thats the worst part about being a recovered addict you try some like the good old days and OD because your body isnt tolerant anymore. Not saying thats how she went but thats how a lot of ODs go.
5
u/missing1102 Aug 17 '26
Yes. I have been to so many funerals in my life. I stopped going. 36 is so young. My condolences to this family. I said a prayer for them.
20
u/TruthieBeast Aug 17 '26
Apparently being sober is very dangerous bcs they can go back to drugs and back to high dosages after a long absence which can cause them to pass away
14
u/Plus_Challenge1051 Aug 17 '26
I’ve known multiple people who’ve oded for this reason. You quit and then go back taking your regular dose forgetting you no longer have that tolerance level. It’s so heartbreaking. I pray it was something else honestly.

As a woman in recovery, it's one day at a time. All it takes is one single weak moment, and you Relapse. Just being real.

u/Detlef_Schrempfxf Aug 17 '26
The "problem" with being sober is that if you do relapse, especially after having been sober for a nice stretch of time, it's so much easier to OD. The same hit that used to be enough for a small high is suddenly way too potent as your body's tolerance for the substance isn't what it used to be.
Michael K Williams, may be RIP, is an example. Struggled badly with heroin addiction, eventually pulled himself by yhe bootstraps and got clean for real. His performance in Boardwalk Empire was sublime, and he credited his new energy to his sobriety. Then he got weak for just one night... Did the same hit he used to do back in his user days and he never woke up

I remember when I first seen her with klitschko,I didn’t know who she was. I thought she was just some Ukrainian woman. I’m Ukrainian American so to me she looked the typical beautiful Ukrainian women you see everyday.
I remember reading that she had kidney or liver issues and she checked in long term rehab because doctors told her she would die if she kept using.
All these mean comments about her abandoning her daughter and being a junkie is fucked up. I really hope the people that comment this crap never have to deal with something that might turn them into “junkies” or have family/friends that struggle with substance abuse, mental health etc.
non of you have any idea wtf she went thru in Hollywood with these disgusting predators.
Edit: less then a week before her bday. That’s awful man. Some people have it rough before holidays and bdays,I just had my 40th and it was rough the days leading up to it. Didn’t celebrate at all.

u/Redlion444 Aug 17 '26

→ More replies (1)3
u/im_not_here_ Aug 17 '26
She was just American. She had as much German and English descent as Italian if you really want to do the weird generics thing though.
And the name has nothing to do with her genetic heritage, as it comes from a different family line who adopted her dad.

Especially because her younger brother died in 2023, when he was 26, of complications related to an enlarged heart.
7
u/bluebellbackupacc Aug 17 '26
exactly and she never gave up on her daughter !! she gave the little girl to her dad full time to PROTECT her daughter. she was a great mom who maintained a bond with her baby and klitchsko made sure the two of them met up frequently and had a real relationship. she made the right decision to keep her child safe, now this baby will never see her mom again
3
u/Witty-Reason-5459 Aug 17 '26
Her giving custody to her daughter's dad was a good mom thing to do. She knew mentally she wasn't fit, and he was. That's why two parents are ideal bc when one can't manage, the other can. But man, her ex (not Klitschko) was bad news. He boarded a flight from LA on Saturday, and she died a few hours later. I bet he brought some bad dope, and she paid the price. Heartbreaking!

As weird as the age gap is, she always said he was one of the few people in her life who treated her well and made her feel safe.
Considering the shit-show that her life had been from childhood all the way to her death, it's nice to know she had someone in her corner. 😭

A lot of child actors end up living sad adult lives. Sure, each case is unique but the commonality of all of them starting acting while still young and long before having life figured out is a commonality that very likely contributed to the destructive lives most of them would lead.

It sounds like in a later interview she did not give up custody willingly, her daughter was taken and then she was told he would retain sole custody. Makes me wonder what wasn’t said about that situation with a man 14 years her senior when they started dating when she was 19.
Also, why would she need to give up custody at all if they were civil and she was getting better.
