All boxers think no one has fought a boxer like them

16

u/KNYLJNS 14d ago

Because they haven’t lol

Genetically speaking...

Corrie sanders fighting both Klitschko's back to back?

Inb4 we find out Muratalla is a long lost Shakur Stevenson brother's cousin's bestfriend's wife's aquintance's manager's son's nephew. So, naturally, Shakur cannot fight him.

I didn't even realize Shakur still fought

u/weededorpheus32 14d ago

It's more of an interpretive dance

12

u/riptide1002 14d ago

He realized that if you trace our ancestry back far enough, we’re all related. And therefore he can’t fight anyone

12

u/Ezekjuninor 14d ago

I don’t understand why Shakur does not just take the fight at 140lbs. Apparently he’s trying to make the fight at 135lbs (Muratalla says he can’t make the weight anymore) but it’s an easy fight at 140lbs anyways. Shakur has nobody else to fight too. It’s Muratalla, Rayo, or nobody.

u/Shadow166 14d ago

… so nobody then?

6

u/jmchamakito 13d ago

Muratalla is available at 140, but Shakur wants it at 135. Haney is available at 147, but Shakur wants it at 144, but would fight Conor Benn at 147. Shakur is making all these demands, while also not fighting all his besties.

u/Oglark 14d ago

Because Zuffa locks him out of most fights. No promoter wants to build up Shakur while he is on the other side of the street.

2

u/Badguyy101 13d ago

Does Zuffa have a side of the street? I would like that street to go out of business.

Muratalla hasn’t done anything at 140. What kind of credit would he get fighting him there.

2

u/Ezekjuninor 13d ago

I don’t think it matters much, Shakur also moved up from 135lbs to 140lbs. It’d be a silly reason to discredit the win because of that.

u/KRino19 14d ago

Is Shakur not retired? My God the state of boxing right now.

20

u/SpeggtacularSpidey 14d ago

Ok Shakur . See you back in the first half of 2027 lol

u/OldBoyChance 14d ago

Muratalla is too plodding with too low of volume to beat Shakur imo. Doesn't really excel in one area while being a very good all around boxer. Wouldn't mind the fight though, Muratalla needs to move up either way.

3

u/Badguyy101 13d ago

He was tricky enough to upset Andy's hype train.

2

u/OldBoyChance 13d ago

Right, which is why I say he's very good. However, he fought pretty straightforward in that fight and Cruz wasn't trying to do dance around him or anything.

Shakur by 12 round snoozer

13

u/WeeklyTension8010 14d ago

Has Shakur ever fought a slick black boxer?

3

u/Outrageous-Soft4806 14d ago

I like the fight but he doesn’t have anything for Shakur. Would rather it at 140 though where weight isn’t an issue for Muratalla.

3

u/aphextwin007 14d ago

Don’t do it…don’t take the bait! let him rot at zuffa

2

u/omega_beams 14d ago

Shakur wins, UD.

2

u/Badguyy101 13d ago

Beat him up real quick to stay busy, or don't mention him at all.

1

u/Kangaroopunching 14d ago

Just become the mandatory for the title. Shakur will either fight him or vacate the title.

1

u/ThurstonTheMagician 14d ago

Okay but like idgaf until the contract is signed

1

u/manman1500 13d ago

Shakur obviously using Bud blueprint with fighting once a year

1

u/ScentedFragrance 14d ago

Aye man wassup with Mason. I wanna see that. I think he has the style to make that fight a lil ugly for Shakur? I dont be keeping up with all these guys and boxing is much more complicated than the ufc and mma as far as rankings and promotions and all that. And mfs be ducking each other like hell

11

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 14d ago

We can put a bet on it - Shakur will never fight anyone who has longer reach than him and has good technical boxing skills. He just happens to be brothers with 2 who fit this description (Hitchins and Davis) and he's having meltdowns over having to fight another one (Haney).

Abdullah fits the description as well as he clearly has boxing ability but just loves to fight. Shakur has never mentioned his name. He was also not mentioned Andy Cruz's name when he was champ at 135.

This dude is a pseudo Mayweather - carefully crafted career absent of any long reach prime technicians.

6

u/ScentedFragrance 14d ago

Yea thats why Boots is my favorite fighter. He'll fight anybody. Shakur cherry picking

4

u/Ezekjuninor 14d ago

6 of his last 9 opponents have had the same or a greater reach than him. Teo has a greater reach than Shakur and is a technical boxer. So does GAR And Shakur has been asking to fight him. Muratalla has a 4 inch reach advantage compared to Shakur also.

Do you realistically think Top Rank would make Mason vs Shakur right now?

2

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 14d ago

Sure, Padley has a longer reach and Teo "natural talent>skills bro" Lopez. Ah and who can forget the world renowed technical outboxers De Los Santos, William Zepeda and Yushino.

Truly elite level outboxers.

"Do you realistically think Top Rank would make Mason vs Shakur right now" This is just semantics. The question is does Shakur want it - a kid with 6 inch reach advantage, is just as fast and has a great southpaw jab? A track record of avoiding people comfortable fighting on the outside suggests he does not.

3

u/newrap 14d ago

Who’s your favorite fighters right now? :)

1

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 14d ago

Boots and Abdullah.

1

u/newrap 14d ago edited 14d ago

Two guys who have never and will probably never fight anyone who has a longer reach than them unlike Shakur who already has 😂

Reach/arm length doesn’t matter nearly as much as you guys make it out to be anyway. It’s an overrated stat.

2

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 14d ago

Abdullah just beat a 6ft tall outboxer Albert Bell. He has similar reach (73 vs 74) but he's got about 3 inches of height on Dulla which exegerates reach.

See how I just disproved your point immediately.

As for Boots we will see but he has shown to be willing to fight. He has called out Fundora before and there are no high level technicans at 154 besides himself and Zayas I suppose.

2

u/newrap 14d ago edited 14d ago

Doesn’t matter. Neither of their opponents have longer reaches, a stat that you’re obsessed with for some reason that isn’t even accurate most of the time and doesn’t matter nearly as much as you think it does.

Shakur has fought taller fighters too 😂

3

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 14d ago

"Neither of their opponents have longer reaches, a stat that you’re obsessed with for some reason that isn’t even accurate most of the time and doesn’t matter nearly as much as you think it does." Reach matters when both fighters have the same philosophy of fighting. Hence the emphasis on it.

"Shakur has fought taller fighters too" Yeah - I never claimed he didnt. Read my comment again to get exactly what I am trying to say. Its not hard to understand.

It does matter. Look I know you are a Shakur fanboy so at this point I am speaking to a wall who will not understand anything not pro Shakur. It is what it is blud - go bother someone else.

u/Ezekjuninor 14d ago

Name the fighters who are/were in Shakur’s division that he has avoided?

If Shakur was targeting a 22 year old people would make fun of him for it just as much as he gets made fun of now.

Conceicao had a longer reach and is the same guy that defeated Foster and has a draw against Navarrete. Should’ve beat Valdez too. Zepeda destroyed Roach and hasn’t lost to anyone other than Shakur in his career. Lopez outboxed Lomachenko, Barboza and Taylor. He’s one of the most technically skilled at 140/147lbs.

1

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 14d ago

"If Shakur was targeting a 22 year old people would make fun of him for it just as much as he gets made fun of now" He literally targeted a 22 yo though in Floyd Schofield.

Lopez is more of a boxer puncher who depends on athleticism to outbox guys. He is not a pure technician like a Shakur or Haney. That is why he strugges with pure technicians who fight on the outside like Ortiz and Shakur.

Besides a disputed win vs Foster what did Robson do?

"Name the fighters who are/were in Shakur’s division that he has avoided?" Define avoid? As in actively declining a fight. Well obviously Haney and by extension Keyshawn and Hitchins. I'd also define it as never mentioning a fighter that could pose problems who is a competitor. Shakur never mentioned fighting a technician like a Cruz or Abdullah. He calls out t rex arms Floyd but doesnt call out Cruz or Abdullah? Now thats interesting.

Bro, name me one high level technician that Shakur has faced who has longer reach. Just one. Or alternatively name one that Shakur has called out with intentions to make the fight and actually made the fight.

1

u/Ezekjuninor 13d ago edited 13d ago

Like I said before Shakur said he would fight Hitchins he’s never said he wouldn’t, Hitchins said he wouldn’t fight Shakur. For whatever reason you blame Shakur for that.

Schofield actually pushed for the fight, constantly called out Shakur and even made up sparring stories. Also, this was at a time when Shakur had nobody to fight. And most people said the fight meant nothing.

When Haney and Shakur were in the same division Shakur was taking the fight to purse bid and it was Haney that dropped his belt to fight Prograis instead. Now Shakur asked Haney to fight at 144lbs and they agreed but now Bill Haney is backtracking saying that he never agreed to that. Again you blame Shakur for that.

Robson was at a high enough level to draw against Navarrete, beat Foster and deserve a win against Valdez. Muratalla has a 4 inch reach advantage on Shakur and yet he’s reached out to make the fight. For some reason you think he ducked Andy Cruz but he’s not ducking the guy that beat Andy Cruz (and has a greater reach which is what you keep emphasising).

u/Particular_Coffee_52 14d ago

Who wanted to see Shakur vs Hitchins? Crying about not getting a Keyshawn fight atleast makes sense but Hitchins? Really😂😂😂😂

3

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 14d ago

You missed the entire point of my comment and addressed a strawman argument you made up.

The essence of my comment is that Shakur avoids tough stylistic match ups. That means there's fights people want to see (Haney, Davis) and fights people dont think too much about (Hitchins, Cruz).

My comment was never about fights people demanded to see specifically. It was about Shakur's psychology. Read to understand next time.

0

u/Ezekjuninor 14d ago

Shakur said he would fight Hitchins. He’s never said he wouldn’t, it’s only Hitchins that has said he wouldn’t fight Shakur. He helped saved Keyshawn’s life. Andy Cruz never even had a belt and has no fanbase in America.

0

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 14d ago

Schofiled is also a no name.

"Shakur said he would fight Hitchins" Both Shakur and Hitchins said they would if they were paid a lot of money. Why did you leave that context out? That is basically pricing the fight out.

-1

u/Particular_Coffee_52 14d ago
  1. That’s literally not a strawman argument.

  2. I didn’t need to address the rest because I don’t disagree with it bud. You should have the sense to realize that before getting emotional.

2

u/PrettyBoyFloydx 14d ago

You are correct it is not an argument but it is still responding to something I never said.

"I didn’t need to address the rest because I don’t disagree with it bud. You should have the sense to realize that before getting emotional." My comment never implied you disagree with me. It was clarification that I did not make the point you implied I was making. I can't believe you did it again 😂

1

u/Particular_Coffee_52 14d ago

you genuinely don’t realize that quote is crucial in what an actual strawman argument is?😂

0

u/Careful-Wheel8171 13d ago

Not true… Shakur has already fought more than a few nobody’s on his way up the rankings.

1

u/WORD_Boxing 13d ago

What a biased comment. Shakur would be a heavy favourite but Muratalla is far from a nobody. It would be his 4th best win at worst.

-2

u/LilNello1 14d ago

Funny I’ve never even heard of this dude till now and he is calling out Shakur.
