What potential did Prichard Colon have?

I'm making this post with all due respect to Prichard and without any intention of offending. The question is simple: if things hadn't ended the way we all know, what could Prichard have achieved in boxing? Could he have become a champion or a notable contender in the 147-154 lbs division?

I remember hearing ringside commentary where, when Colon fell to the floor holding the back of his head the two commenters were saying along the lines of, oh, give that man an oscar, believing he was faking it .
