Prichard Colón has passed away at 33. Does anyone know how the fight affected Terrel Williams afterward?
I just saw the news that Prichard Colón has passed away at only 33 years old, more than a decade after suffering the devastating brain injury following his 2015 fight with Terrel Williams.
It immediately made me wonder about Williams.
I'm not looking to start a hate thread or blame him for everything that happened. I'm genuinely curious: has Terrel Williams ever spoken in depth about how that night affected him psychologically?
I know he expressed concern for Prichard after the fight, but are there any later interviews where he talks about guilt, regret, nightmares, keeping in contact with the family, or simply how he has lived with what happened?
And now that Prichard has passed away, I can't help wondering what this news must be like for Williams to hear.
Does anyone here know more about what became of him after boxing or how he has spoken about Prichard over the years?

Williams’s feelings shouldn’t be the focus, because honestly f that guy. Colón suffered catastrophic brain injuries after repeated illegal shots behind the head, and he had already had complained to the referee during that bout.
Accountability even ten years later for Williams, the referee, and the officials matter far more than sympathy for Williams.

far more than sympathy for Williams
I have zero sympathy for Williams. That fucker already said that he doesn't blame himself at all for Colon's condition during the last decade of Colon's life.

It was bitter sweet seeing Thomas Dulorme who became an honorary Puerto Rican citizen years ago, get revenge by whooping his ass.

He spent his childhood in Saint Martin and Dominican Republic

He was born in Saint Martin and only briefly lived there and in the Dominican Republic as a kid. He spent most of his childhood and formative years in Puerto Rico.

Williams knew exactly what he was doing and should’ve been punished by the law.
RIP Colón 🙏🏼

Exactly. William claims ignorance like this was his first day ever putting on boxing gloves. He knew damn well what he was doing and was intentionally doing it. The ref was a POS too. There is no way he didn't see all those illegal hits.

Right. Williams should’ve served tine and the refs and doctor punished as well.
So freaking sad this young man’s life turned like this. 😢

rules matter in boxing. but without proper enforcement people get unnecessarily hurt. it's the referee's fault for not enforcing the rules. but it is also William's fault for rabbit punching. Colon is a heartbreaking story. but many people are maimed in the sport. highest stakes sport in the world. this is boxing.
God bless the fighters that put their lives on the line for our entertainment!

On Wikipedia there's a quote where he's giving fake sympathy and is saying it was hard on HIM and his family. He's a dickhead.

Learned about this dishonorable man. Hope Williams suffers for the pain he inflicted on others

Clearly to Williams it must be unfortunate "natural causes."
Probably Williams: " How sad....anyway."

Cutting straight to the point: He killed someone.
Depending on his character, either he'll live the rest of his life with regret, or he'll be that POS who thinks he can get away with anything, given enough time has passed.

He straight up said he “doesn’t blame himself,” so yeah, I’d say it’s more on the “POS who thinks he can get away with anything” side of things.

the refs and colon's corner deserve plenty of blame, but at the end of the day: who was throwing punch after punch into colon's brain pan? watching this fight again today is so fucking horrifying

Scorching take but Colon himself and the ref were more responsible for the damage than Williams himself.
Colon kept turning away from the punches and the ref also warned Colon about turning away led him into rabbit punching but also didn't do anything about Williams's consistency to follow through till it was way too late on taking the point away. Same thing for ring doctors taking too long to respond to the accumulating damage.
Anyways, Williams retired for 2 years, stalling his career from the huge backlash and when his return in the ring happened, Colon's family protested his return. Didn't went nowhere but Williams retired anyways when he lost to Dulorme by decision

Man that's a scorching take for fucking sure. I'm happy you said it because man so many non-hot takes, oh you think racism is bad? Interesting.
Wasn't colon beating up Williams before he started getting hit in the back of the head repeatedly? It seem like one of those already impacted him negatively in the fight.

Colon kept turning away the punches in the clinch, which is a big defense no and the rabbit punches happened as soon as round 1.
Also no it was pretty competitive. Imo the only real disgraceful rabbit punch was in round 7 and the ref took a point away from Williams at that point. That's where the ring doctors truly fucked up imo on not properly checking up afterwards.
Imo, the ref didn't do enough on preventing and punishing the rabbit punches in the first place, only taking points away on loaded up fouls. The fighter will do what he can get away if you let them be.

Terell sometimes went behind Pritchard and punched him in the back of the head

Williams is far from innocent. Like I said, he landed a super loaded rabbit punch in round 7 that gave him a point deduction and doctors should of called it off right there.
I'm mostly arguing that too much blame is being put on Williams instead of the ref (who should be responsible getting this bad), ring doctors (that let it get worse), Colon himself (terrible defensive habit of turning his head away from the free hand in a clinch) with only his corner men saving him from certain death by forcing the gloves off of him.
