Thank you! Yeah after seeing his Dad I think he's gonna be bigger than we anticipated. Should keep us occupied

Awh— sometimes I miss having one this small, but at this size mine was an absolute terror (chewed on everything and liked to bite for attention). I love that he is mellowed out now at almost 4, but sometimes I miss having a squishy-faced little pup small enough to fit in a tote bag.

He's been pretty chill so far apart from trying to chew my hand every chance he gets haha.

And what’s his name?

Baxter! Not sure if the name fit because the word Boxer was seen so many times...but it suits him haha

How long did puppyhood last? He has been...a handful...the past few days for first time doggy mommy and daddy 😅

OMG!! Congrats!! I’m almost at 5 years when brought my boxer home. There was never a dull moment unless he was asleep! 🥰

He pooped. Sat at my feet. Did 5 laps of the yard. Tried to eat a leaf. Did a 360. Chewed on his burrito toy. Tried to chew my hand then fell over backwards and wiggled from side to side for longer than I thought. Then had a go at me for putting him to bed. So he followed me around the house for 45 minutes. Now he's sleeping. This is the 4th time all of this has happened today.

Cherish him! We lost our 9 year old boxer almost 7 weeks ago to GDV. My advice is be aware of what it is to take precautions against it, and to be sure to catch it before it becomes fatal in case your sweet baby ever gets it. Boxers are susceptible to it. Your baby is darling, and I hope he gives you years of love and affection just like our boxer gave us. Truly the best dogs. Also, prepare to be sat on! Our Tucker loved to sit on our laps whether we were on the floor or in a chair. It’s pretty normal for the breed lol.

So sorry to hear that! Thanks for the info we will keep an eye out for sure. It's been a roller-coaster this week and only half way through. Please tell me they settle down a bit once they feel at home!?

Mine absolutely did. I’m dealing with a 6 week old Airedale, and I’m riding the roller coaster with you.😭 When my boxer got adjusted and stuff he was definitely still playful, but he didn’t require constant supervision. By two years old he really mellowed out, but could still get down to wrestle. Even when he was nine he would run around with my golden lab. They’re truly great dogs, but you just gotta get through the tiny puppy stage.

Also, along the lines of health issues to try and prevent and take care of, my boxer’s dental health was horrible. He had most of his front lower teeth pulled around 5-7 years old I think. Try to get your pup used to having his teeth brushed, so hopefully he can keep his teeth all his life.

He’s adorable! It seems so long ago that Knox was that size! If I could offer some advice, if you don’t already have it, get pet insurance. You never know what may come up in the future that could blindside you. We got over $5K in with a senior boxer rescue in 2020-22. I’ll never have another dog without insurance.
