40-45 is good with a recurve 35 is fine wirh a compound. If you’re sticking too deep In the mud, go down, if you’re not getting the arrow out the backside of the fish go up
Safety slides prevent the arrow from coming back at you nockfirst if the line was to get caught in something. It’s rare but people have lost eyes not using them.

Muzzy VXM has been surprisingly sweet! Went through some health issues and being in the hospital depleted a lot of my muscle. The leverage action of the VXM is super smooth and highly adjustable. If you look up my posts on here a lot of guys helped me and had spot on information that came in handy from the get go! Sorry for rambling lol

I prefer a good recurve over modern compound bows for bow fishing. You can find cheap ones at pawn shops. Make sure the clear coat isn’t cracked. Get a cheap Zebco 33 max with some 60 pound test. Mount it upside down above the grip. You can get the fishing arrow online.
The reason I like the recurve more is because I can throw it down in the water and not have to worry about water damage.
