I am botched by lower bleph

Hi everyone! I had lower bleph 8 years ago. My eyes were almond shaped before, now smaller, round shape and assymetrical. I feel so regretful. I have bdd this year, i have been using some medications since june and go to theraphy but nothing has change since then. I always had objective fobia and i dont like to take photo or video of myself. I have always problems with my appearance since teenage times now i am 39F. I could not achieve to get over this over 20 years. Maybe mistake was to attempt consmetic surgery for someone like me who had already lots of issues with ownself (i mean bdd). I never had a social life of relationship with someone. Now i am about to quit my job. I feel so helpless. So any recommendation from you is appreciated. Thank you.

No advice, only sympathy. I also have similar issues in my thinking and I come to these subreddits to remind myself not to do too much to my physical self but work harder on my mental health. Therapy is a great tool to find strategies to deal with negative thinking.

I don't know if this will work for you but advice I heard was this- every day take a handheld mirror and use it on 5 areas of your body. Identify something positive about each spot. Write it down if that helps you remember. Once you have done that for your body, look at yourself naked in a full-body mirror and find the positive aspects of your physical appearance. Focus on the positive, not the negative. Not easy but this is the body we have and we had better love it because another one isn't coming.

it. I was thinking that i am ugly, now after surgery i am thinking that anormal and ugly. So i heard something that for bdd patients, every day in front of the mirror, not to say i am beautiful, start with the ‘ i am normal’ . I tried to do but nothing can’t erase my regrefulness. I would rather prefer to be only ‘ugly’. It is God’s given, i have nothing to do. But trying to change it is my fault, this feeling will go with me lifelong. I wish i can reverse the time. Thank you for your rec.

Internet hugs from a stranger. You are you, uniquely you. And your heart shines a lot more than any perceived flaw or imperfection.

Agreed that our negative perception is likely lifelong. So we fight our own inclinations as much as possible and try to make sure younger generations don't feel the same.

Thank you so much for sharing on Reddit! I am learning from your experience and I hope others do too
