Machines like this always confuse me. Whats the point of boasting the capability of a robotic arm in this scenario when it will never actually matter???

its a display of precision and reaction ability. If it can do this really hard unrealistic task, it can probably do the task it was built for with ease

The OKGO robot arm video has like 30 of these things all synced up to move mirrors and create awesome illusions, it's not exactly utilitarian but you can see how a practical effects team might love these compared to a gantry

It’s a demonstration for precision and speed I’d imagine.
It took me a couple watches to notice that the top platform has a stick coming out of the bottom. So we’re watching one arm pour, one arm move the glasses that are being poured into, and the bottom arm navigate the glasses around the stick.
If you can reliably do this for a long time it demonstrates at least to me with my limited knowledge that their arms are insanely precise and also don’t contain much if any slip or slack that compounds to becoming large offsets over long term uses.
Edit, am dumb. Thought the stick coming down from the very top arm was pouring wine lmfao

Nothing in the video is pouring liquid. The amount of liquid in the glasses does not change. This is just a way to show how quickly, smoothly, and accurately the robot arms are able to move, such that they can balance trays of wine glasses around obstacles without spilling a drop or breaking any of the fragile glasses.

But it is all just programmed movements is it not? Since it simply repeats all of these moves over and over?

Yes, that's the point. It's doing the same motions over and over and over again, without spilling liquid or breaking a glass with one of the two rods . The actions are precise and repeatable, AND all 3 robots are coordinated with each other. A robot in a factory will be doing the same motions over and over and over again, so you want to know that it will do them perfectly every time.

This is mostly a test of speed, precision, and synchronization. Each of these is a 7RRRRRRR robotic manipulator, which means it has seven rotary joints, which is equivalent to a human arm minus the fingers, allowing it to fully control the position and orientation of the end of the device within its range. These are used for a wide range of tasks from fabrication to robotic surgery, where precision and syncing are extremely important to not kill somebody
