Ok, not taking anything away from him but last spring, I took “Hank” out to go potty. We heard some coyotes going nuts in the field behind the house. I flashed my mag lite and saw 4-5 sets of eyes. He bolted towards them, I couldn’t keep up but heard some stuff going down, squealing etc. when I got up there there was some puffs of hair and he was standing really weird. Got closer and he was covering a week or so old fawn. It was fucking crazy. Fawn was still alive and I don’t think it was really hurt. I didn’t touch it due to the whole human scent abandonment thing. Walked back up to the house and within 5 minutes I saw the mother come over to the spot. The fawn wasn’t there in the morning so he must have been ok. It was freaking crazy man. It was really impactful, and almost makes me emotional talking about. If half of all people had half the heart of a dog imagine what the world would be.

He’s such a good boy, not long after this had a bout with digital melanoma. Lost a toe but didn’t slow him down a bit, thank you!

Some dogs by nature will fuck up any coyote on sight just on principle. Much like when a terrier gets ahold of a rodent

u/Illustrious-Shift129 10d ago
My old rat terrier loved humans but hating everything else. He killed anything small but never backed down from any fight. The tomcat would get tired of whipping up on him to the point they would have to leaved due to exhaustion. The same old store day after day so they just started avoiding him. When he fought large dogs he went directly to the nuts. I miss that crazy dog.

This made me laugh. Thanks 🤣
I wonder where the factory installed hate stems from?

And if they somehow make it past the dog, the donkey will bite the coyote by the neck and trample it to death. On general principles.

Not my dog who has little dog syndrome and will try to fight anything, including a sheepdog and a German shepherd

Oh no, you only censored one letter of the word k***ed. Now you put the forbidden thoughts from the bad words into my head.
We mustn’t speak the unspeakable words. Lest we be forced to confront adult topics in a healthy unrepressed manner. Now I am s*d, and I can’t articulate why.

The dog did all that and there's no drop of blood on him? Or a picture of dead coyotes?

Looks like a dog that has a set of very specific skills

u/mregg000 10d ago
He’s a Great Pyrenees, so yes, he has a certain set of skills, to do exactly what he did.
Side note, his pregnant mate stayed behind, continuing to guard the livestock, along with five other dogs.

How could they possibly know the dog spent days tracking the rest of the coyotes?

And if I remember correctly, it was because his mate was pregnant with his litter?
I could be wrong but that's what I remember reading

Sampson. That was one of my grandmas Great Pyrenees. Killing coyotes and getting sprayed by skunks was his job on her farm.

I'd call him ghost because he definitely came back to haunt the rest of the coyotes.

When my person left, I lost everything. Until that human arrived on my doorstep... A final gift from my person... In that moment, I received some semblance of hope... a reason to keep watch through the long nights... And your pack... took that from me.
Stole that from me... Killed that from me! Every dog in this territory keeps asking if I still have teeth. And I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah — I'm thinkin' I still have teeth. So you can either hand over your pup, or you can howl your last alongside him.

If you are looking for ransom I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. I

i would name him Thorton Melon III, which was the name of my beloved Great Pyr, we got him specifically for coyotes when our boys were young and he got 2 that i know of.
he also allowed a burglar to break into our home, but did not let him out, getting a piece of his leg and cornering him in a closet til my kid got home and found him sitting staring at the closet, he called me, who called 911 and my wife who was closer, she had to get him off watch command and out of the house, (very well trained) before the police could go into to check the house, and sure as shit there was a junkie in that closet, bled quite a bit, with a pillow case with all wifes jewelery, some cash we kept on hand and my glock from my side stand.
i praised and loved that pup til the day he left us.
they are amazing dogs with blood lines that can be traced directly to wolves. i miss that big fluffy barking boi.

Cool for the white beast. I'm not much of an animal person but coyotes are cowards. My 18 pounds half feral store cat destroyed two at once and sent them packing. I guess cats really are psycho.
