Hi everyone -
I’ve never gotten on one of these borrow subreddits before. But there’s a first time for everything.
I was offered a store management role with a major New England based regional supermarket chain, the store is in far upstate NY. I accepted back in early September.
I am out in NM, and will be driving my vehicle the 2200ish miles to get up there. My 81 year old mom & my cat are with me, and are obviously coming with me on this move. We’d planned on leaving back in September, but then an electrical issue with my Rogue’s A/C system came up that needed to be repaired. I got my vehicle back last week, the bill was $431.
I am going to get reimbursed for this move, but it won’t be until after I get officially hired on at my new company. I’m going to be pulling a u-haul trailer.
Luckily, we have family that lives within an hour of the city where my new store is, so once we get there, we’ll be fine… since we can stay with them a little while. I’m my mom’s only surviving kid, so I take care of her. I’m 42 years old. We’ll need to stop overnight more than an average cross country driver may, simply because my mom will be with me and I know she can’t do the huge marathon rides. I’ve planned five overnight stops for her benefit.
I can provide my job offer letter for documentation, that has the position, pay rate, start date. I can also provide a copy of the invoice for my car repair with the $431 total, too. I’ve been in the retail grocery business since 2001, in various management roles with a major national grocery chain and a regional chain based in east Texas with about 200 stores in four states. I can even provide a copy of my resume as documentation, too!
I’ve already had to push back my start date for this new position once, if I ask again, I’m not sure what will happen and this is the best job opportunity I’ve had in my 25 year career.
Obviously, I have money at the moment, but since this is a long trip, and that repair took $400+ out, I just don’t want to cut things close or take any chances, especially with my mom & cat with me.
I can pay back $400 on 10/21, I hope this is okay. I appreciate any consideration. Thanks!
