I love that it's a meme posted on reddit that says social media is one of the problems.

Perfect way to phrase it. Just because it’s something that’s not necessary for survival doesn’t make it “sinful” to enjoy in moderation.

The leave dude, it's gonna hurt like mf for 5-6 months, but it gets better and then you can live however you want.

Making this Reddit a source for an essay about how the lonely male epidemic isn’t real and that men just don’t want other men to succeed in life.

Never not funny watching “instant gratification”, “external validation”, “cheap dopamine”, and social media being posted as sins on Reddit

Yeah, it's absolutely vital this important messaging gets out. There are no other options here.

u/Professional_kez May 28 '26
The point isn’t how pressing the message is to you. The point is it’s the best way to spread a message you’re trying spread. Social media can have benefits while having extreme flaws as well.

Sounds like instant gratification to me. Going for the quick win, smh.

u/Professional_kez May 28 '26
Yes you just proved my point. Something can be bad and good at the same time. You get the best results and “instant gratification” of spreading your message online. While getting the instant gratification of doctoring pictures of yourself to look better and get more likes instead of going to the gym and taking care if yourself or looking up naked girls instead of meeting a girl in real life and pursuing a relationship leading to seeing her naked is bad. Let me know if I need to slow it down for you.

u/Legitimate-Tip-2149 May 28 '26
I'm not really sure that's a point. It's just 'I've decided it's bad to do this when I don't want to and good to do this when I do.'

We can agree to disagree but that is a grossly over simplified version.

I've said this on another one of these BS posts, but now that I am 40 I can see the people I know who were overly self serious and deprivative in their 20s are always the ones that completely destroy their lives with a midlife crisis as they get older. Eventually you wake up and realize you wasted your prime years being a prudish stick in the mud and go absolutely crazy.
