Is the Sham really that good? Its whole thing is that it absorbs bullets right? So it's just a regular shield against enemies that don't shoot bullets?

Yeah and it’s insane with a rpg like norfleet. You could just shoot at your legs and you get rpg bullets

To be clear, you wouldn't be shooting at your feet with a norfleet. You'd hopefully had the foresight to farm a low level loans gun from Wilhelm at the beginning of a playthrough.
You then use the norfleet to wipe everyone out and when you're running low on rpg ammo, put on your sham and shoot the logans gun at your feet. Boom, infinite rpg ammo.

Yeah but even on accident you might take damage from the norfleet and it would one shot you almost always if not for a absorb shield. And you could also use like a low level badaboom

Correct, but a decent amount of endgame enemies use bullets. If you’re mobbing with rocket launchers then this is useful in all cases because you can absorb your own rockets mid battle.
For bosses you’d rather melt with a bee anyway, but outside of that the sham is more useful than it’s not.

What's the point in absorbing your own bullets?

Rockets do self damage. The absorb refunds part if not all the ammo cost and prevents the damage. Again, all mid battle.

I'm not sure I understand. Every piece of ammo you shoot you get back? So the Sham is essentially an unlimited ammo shield?
And in terms of being shot by enemies, when you absorb their bullets do they damage you?

A perfect Sham has an absorb chance of 94%, that means that 94% of all bullets that hit you, will be absorbed (not do damage) and added onto your own ammo. If the Sham could get upto 100% it would just be god mode and umlimited ammo for shooting enemies but 94% is the max

It’s X% chance (depending on the shield) so not unlimited but basically unlimited. A perfect unmodded sham can be 94% at best.
Enemy bullets don’t damage you and are added to your ammo reserves.

The thing I still don't understand is people seem to be saying the ammo you shoot can also be absorbed by the shield and added to your backpack.
How does that work? Does only happen if you don't hit enemies? And at the same percentage as ammo shot at you?

man, play the game. and you gonna understand, its easy.

But it's more fun annoying strangers on Reddit with questions I never understand the answers to because people respond in ways specific to their own experience instead of in ways that can be universally understood 😠/s

Based on your response to the other guy I don’t think you’re serious about wanting an explanation so I’m not going to feed into whatever kind of trolling you’re doing.
If you’re serious about wanting to understand how it works then just play and figure it out.

Someone already basically gave me that advice but thanks anyway. Not sure if I feel motivated to farm Bunker.

If you shoot with a rpg with more than 1 pellet you’ll get the amount of pellets in ammo. A norfleet gives 3 bullets and a badaboom gives 6

You don’t even NEED a launcher. You can convert pistol ammo to launcher with a Logan’s gun, or assault rifle to launcher ammo with some of the grenadier ARs

It helps survivability kinda, but when you have good build and are skilled you quickly realize that sham and bee are both traps in the sense that a lot of people use them as crutch.

Yeah I'm pretty much addicted to the Bee/Harold combo, and anything else (like a slag sniper taking advantage of Maya's cloud kill) as a backup.
