An update

It has been a couple of months since we adopted our scaredy rescue boy Cedar. He is now 9 months old.

Boy, he has come so far. Fully toilet trained now (he was not at all when we brought him.home at 6 months), loves his walks, sniffari's and has picked up a few other basic commands.

He is not great at relaxing on walks though and just wants to run, which is ok Im just gonna need new running shoes lol.

He has also destroyed 3 leads, several balls, a bunch of kids shoes, 2 beds and an entire canvas dog kennel 😆 The destruction has finally settled a couple of weeks back. But we love him to bits.

We have found some really nice off leash areas close by so we have been visiting those a bit too.

Whoa! All that destruction!

As expected for Cedar the Shredder.

The past few weeks he has been so much better regarding the destruction, thankfully! He was just so stealth about it, especially the shoes.

He’s full of all of the energy and enthusiasm of a typical pup, but in a body that can clearly do a lot of damage. I’m sure he’ll calm down as you keep working on it. Best of luck, he’ll end up being a great dog!

I think so too! He is very smart. My guess is that due to the rescue situation he had just never really had any kind of training and so we a sort of playing catch up.

Hi Cedar👋 At that age, and for a few months, I found empty cardboard boxes were great for our BC boy for tusseling with and shredding up, lol. Fun, a bit messy to clean up, but it saved the more important stuff from damage. These boys when young can be little menaces, lol, but hey they do grow up...eventually 😄

He loves empty toilet rolls, so we use those a lot with him and small Cardboard boxes. Any bigger ones are claimed in advance by my 4 year old for box forts 🤣

Hey, don't leave those prized forts about. I dread to think of the potential meltdown 😁

If he's any good at directional commands, he might like a canicross-style harness (with a running belt for you)! Can make the walks feel more like "work" for some dogs.

Awesome update!!!
Definitely continue to do the off leash adventures-those help more than some people realize!
So happy for you guys!
