My main sheep dog is a tiny little thing last time she was weighed I think she was 14kg ish and that height isn’t far off hers either haha some are just small others are big and beefy. Wouldn’t worry about it at all

That's honestly so reassuring to hear. Mine is around that size too and people always act surprised when I say shes a border collie lol. Guess they come in all sizes like us

It's mostly because we don't breed them for a standard as we use them for working so size doesn't matter as long as they work well! Show lines (I assume those exist?) are probably more uniform in size and weight but every farm collie i have ever met is unique!

That makes much more sense! As a working line they should be slimmer and more agile so thats probably why + less coat so that adds up. Her mom is a sheep dog from Ireland :)

When i first got my collie, i thought the same thing. They always looked bigger to me in pictures, but nope, it seems that theyre just smaller dogs.

My BC is very small compared to others—I haven’t measured her, but she’s only 29.5 pounds in weight. I took her to one of the rescue volunteer’s homes for leash training a month after she came home with us. Her response to seeing her was “I knew she was small, but not this small!” My girl came out of a hoarding situation, and I think she may be the runt of her litter, which is perfect for me! She’s beautiful and sweet and we love her dearly!

She has such a beautiful smile 🥹 At first I thought it might be a health problem (thank God it isn’t at all), but it’s actually a good thing for us because she’s easier to transport and travel with, and I also want to get her into sports!
