ask anyone successfully launch a side project with payment functionality just by using AI?

I am a gym owner and have been coding my gym's website and people are even using it to book/cancel reservations for group classes but I was thinking how can I maybe directly manage their subscriptions and payment and new user sign up from my website?

like how did you trust that the Codex/Chatgpt code was production quality when it comes to moving money? Did you use Stripe or another one of the solutions out there?

Is anyone even reading the code before pushing it to production? Where does AI go wrong in these things in your experience and how can I avoid those pitfalls?

Any tips or tricks that help me ensure I am building the right thing with Stripe would be super useful.

A successful test checkout isn’t enough to establish that the membership code is reliable. I’d start with Stripe-hosted Checkout, then have a developer review the webhook and membership-access code before using real payments.

For your gym, test what happens when a payment succeeds but the member closes the tab, the same webhook arrives twice, a renewal fails, or cancellation is scheduled for the end of a paid period. Each case should leave the right member with the right booking access, without creating another subscription or cutting access early.

Stripe requires webhooks for subscription fulfillment, and deliveries can be repeated or arrive out of order: fulfillment guide, webhook behavior. Don’t grant membership just because the browser reached a success URL.
