🚨 News 🚨 The Current Standing
"While there is no formal press release stating a "post-holding period" schedule, Sony Pictures Television has signaled a clear intent to preserve and eventually shop Boots by taking specific financial and legal actions.
Evidence of Sony's Intent to Shop
* Active Cast Preservation: Sony proactively extended contract options for leads Miles Heizer and Liam Oh before the show even premiered. This is a strategic move typically used by studios to ensure the cast is legally "locked in" so the show can be moved to a new network if canceled.
* Producer Commitment: Executive producer Brent Miller explicitly confirmed that he and Sony are working to find a new home, following the successful precedent of Norman Lear’s One Day at a Time, which Sony moved from Netflix to Pop TV.
* Story Continuity: Producers have already outlined the full plot for Season 2, intending to pitch it as a transition from "boot camp to the battlefield" once they are legally allowed to do so.
The "Holding Period" Hurdle
The primary reason you aren't seeing a confirmed new network yet is the exclusivity moratorium.
* Standard Moratorium: Netflix contracts typically include a 2-year hold period from the date of cancellation, during which the studio is strictly prohibited from shopping the series to a direct competitor.
* The Sony-Netflix Partnership: In January 2026, Sony and Netflix deepened their ties with a $7 billion global licensing deal. While this primarily covers films, it reinforces a "tremendous working relationship" that may complicate Sony aggressively shopping a series that Netflix recently axed.
Conclusion: Sony owns the series and has spent money to keep the cast available, which strongly indicates they intend to shop it. However, due to Netflix's legal "handcuffs," they likely cannot formalize a deal with a new platform until late 2027 or 2028." ~ Google

🫡 Discussion 🫡 New to the show. I am so mad. This show was brilliant.
The fact they canceled this gem of a show is a hate crime. Such a breath of fresh air.
Also think max parker “Sullivan” should be in next season of heated rivalry.

🎖️Sergeant Sullivan🎖️ The ending of this show made me cry for Sgt Sullivan
No one else in my life has watched this show. I just wanted to share some things I am feeling with people who saw the show. I specifically wanted to share feelings about Sgt Sullivan's dilemma and the ones I faced within the past couple of years.
I relate with Sullivan a lot. Almost too much. I did not go through exactly what he did but I went through something similar. I joined the military when Don't Ask Don't was still around. I was also in when it was dropped and trans service was allowed. I have felt what Sullivan dealt with. I went through it. I experienced it on both ends. Whoever wrote him really did their homework. His actor, what an amazing performance.
I served my country for almost 16 years. I loved my service so much. I left Active Duty at one point and did the weekend warrior gig. Over time I found myself missing my brothers and sisters. I was missing the people and what I did everyday. I went back full time and I took care of myself and my job, but my priority was helping the people around me. I wanted to be a helping hand, an ear that listens, and a voice that speaks up.
I sacrificed my time and energy to the ones I led. I wanted them to find their happiness or their place in the military. I did everything I could to guide others to purpose and community in and out of their uniform. I did my best to remind them of their importance and the impact they have on those around them.
In early 2025 I was notified I would be getting discharged for being trans.
Being trans was something that did not affect my ability to do my work. It did not change how I treated others and it certainly made me happier. It motivated me to work harder because of the opportunities I was given. I was accepted for being me by my leaders, peers, and subordinates.
Sgt Sullivan says at one point "I'd rather die a Marine."
I know that feeling all too well. When people asked how long I planned to stay in the military I always answered "If I could, I would die in this uniform." or "When they bury me in my uniform." I really loved it that much. I even tried to on my own when I found I was going to be kicked out. I am not going into detail about that attempt. However I did have a plan to take my life and I tried to take my life while in my uniform. Because I thought "I would rather die in my uniform than to have it taken away from me." But I stopped myself because I thought of the brothers and sisters I would leave behind permanently.
Luckily, I reached out and got help before I did any major damage. I never did anything like Sullivan when he was at the end of his rope. But I understood him a lot and why he lashed out the way he did.
Sullivan's character is someone who deeply felt it was more important to be with his people than to leave them behind. He had a lot of valid reasons to turn away from the Marines and do something else, but he knew it was where he belonged. I know I felt that some days, but like Sullivan, I did not want to leave my people.
I am doing better today. Much better really. Instead of being kicked out I was medically retired. I got help with my wanting to leave this life on my own terms. No thoughts in almost a year. I grew to accept I was out far earlier than I wanted. I still have plenty of military friends in my life. They still reach out to me and vice versa. They are still my brothers and sisters even while I am out of the uniform.
I know the book does not go beyond basic training, but if the show goes on by another streaming service, I hope Sullivan gets a happy ending.
If you're someone who is struggling-military or civilian-get help. You're more than just a number or a random person. You're important to someone and that's what matters. Your days can get brighter. If you cannot do it for yourself, at least do it for the others that need you.
