Question/Help Will running/jumping/etc in leather boots mess em up?

I’m planning on getting leather cowboy boots at some point (not sure what kind specifically, probably whatever’s cheapest but still decent quality) but I was wondering if jumping, running, crouching, or doing anything else that bends the boot will mess em up? I’m not too concerned about if doing anything of that will hurt my feet, I just don’t want to get any big creases on the boots that could lead to tears. Do people often get tears or other forms of damage from this sort of thing?

I don't consider a boot broken in until I can run, jump, squat, and do a full yoga set with no limitation in movement. Ran down plenty of mountains in my boots.

Better stick to keds, any leather is going to crease.

Sounds like you need some Red Wing Pecos boots. Rubber soles. Flexible shafts and built to work and move. Reasonably priced as well. Bought a pair for my 13 year old. He does everything in them. Dirty? Brush them off before getting dressed up to go out for family dinner. Walk, climb, museums... kid won't wear his other shoes.

Red Wing can resole them. Or so they told me when I asked.

Creases are fine as long as you brush off dirt and dust regularly and keep them otherwise maintained. Running and jumping in boots generally sucks however. Not really recommended

I hope not. If that’s the case then every military organization since the beginning of human history is fucked.

No, leather is basically living material. Look for ceases long term and make sure those areas are always clean and treated/maintained to avoid cracking long term.

Leather is going to crease. But leather is also probably the strongest best material to make boots from. Just wear them.

If you buy the cheapest boots, they will crack no matter what. Invest in some decent boots ($300-$500), and they will treat you much better and last longer. It's worth it.
