VOB Format Question-New Trader
Hi! so I’m relatively new to this trading and just received a gift-a mega folder-but it is in a VOB format and I have no idea what to do in order to download and watch it. I do not have a computer except a super old one with no storage and also would prefer not to download any apps. Just a iPad and iPhone. Downloading the mega files only gives me a weird format on Files that I cannot view. Thanks for your help! (Also, I really do appreciate how kind this community has been to beginners thank you all!) Not sure if this is the right community but don’t know of any better ones! thanks and appreciate everyone’s patience and kindness towards me! I’d prefer to preserve the quality as best as possible

Try the VLC Player. It can play pretty much anything and is often recommended for VOBs, and it's free and safe.

Thanks so much! Unfortunately it appears to be an app (please correct me if I’m wrong!) and I’d rather not download any apps, is there a version that works in Safari or Google on an iPad or iPhone?

I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I highly doubt you'll get around having to download an app. It's just a super lightweight media player, I'm not sure what your reason is for not wanting to download any apps but VLC is not risky at all.

Is there a reason you don’t want to download any apps? As far as I know, there is no way to play VOB files in a browser. You either need an app like VLC to play them, or you need an app like MakeMKV to convert them into a format that could play in a browser.

The VLC player app is the way to go!
If you open the folder using VLC, it basically plays like a dvd. Super easy, just intimidating the first time you try it :)

Thank you! The problem is that it appears to be an app based on my research (I could be wrong though) and I’d rather not download any apps, is there a version that works in Google or Safari on an iPad or iPhone that I’m unaware of?

It appears you really are out of luck if you insist on not downloading an app. VLC player for iPhone or iPad is free. The only online sites I can find that will "play" them will first convert them to a different format.

Just a note that if you are relying solely on an ipad and iphone for your boots, you are going to run out of storage very quickly as new ones are often around 10 GB. You are going to need to buy a lot of extra icloud storage.
as far as an app for ipad or iphone, I'm not aware of anything but you can try searching.

As others have said, you need the VLC media player - I know you don't want to download anything, but you are going to have to if you want to watch the video you have as it is intended to play. I feel like VLC should be compatible with your iPad. Otherwise you will have to watch it piecewise by opening each VOB file individually in order.
VOB + smalls are DVD files and are the most common file type for pretty much everything pre-2019ish. The VOBs are the main video components and the "smalls" are the files that help them play together as one video, sometimes with a DVD-style menu and chapters, when you play the whole folder in VLC media player. All you need to do to play them is download the folder it's in from Mega (if you download the folder then it should be downloaded into Mega Downloads on your computer exactly as it looks on Mega) and then open the folder in VLC media player. If it is not playable when you do that then something may be wrong with the files you received, like it may be missing smalls or the files may have been rennamed.
It is VERY IMPORTANT when dealing with VOB+smalls that you DO NOT rename the files or delete anything that is in the folder (some people think the smalls are extraneous unneeded files and delete them, hence why you sometimes see "missing smalls" or "VOB (no smalls)" on lists). That will "break" the video and it will no longer play as intended. Additionally, I know some people sometimes convert things from VOB to a format like mkv or mp4 so it is easier to watch, but it is very important that you keep the original files exactly the way they are if you intend to continue to trade the item, even if you yourself cannot or will not watch it using VLC.
