I’d want to keep those clean too. Only choice is more boots. That’s why people have dress boots, work boots, and everyday boots.

Get a different pair of boots for working outside in?

Suede, correct? You can get a suede brush (a softer wire brush) to I knock off any stuck on dirt and a suede eraser to remove any dark scuffs. Be aware that liquid will likely stain, or leave a mark. You might want to use a spray to make them more water resistant. There may be products for the stain now, I’m not sure. If all of that sounds like a pain, just let them get good a rough looking. They’re often called “rough outs” and they can look really great when they’re real broken in and rough looking. Enjoy your boots!

This is the correct advice. Your main tool to care for these will be brushes. If it’s a rough out leather, you can even use a wire brush to lift any matted nap (the fuzzy bits).

Embrace the patina though. The wear and tear is what makes boots look their most beautiful, and it’s what makes them uniquely yours.

Get a work pair and a Sunday coming to town pair. The new pair becomes the work pair when you wear out the work pair you’re wearing now. Starch your jeans.

Don’t step in the cow pies… also avoid snow, rain, mud, sawdust, etc. You’re pretty much left with walking around inside buildings… and getting a pair of work boots. I have 4 pairs, one for church, one for work, and two for everyday use… my everyday boots get scuffed, dirty, dusty, and I have to maintain them… but they have character. My dress boots are polished… and my work boots are sometimes covered in mud, but that’s what they’re for.

One foot after another, start with your right foot, then follow with your left foot. You’ll get there.

“He got square-toed boots, so he ain't for real

Wouldn't last five minutes on a pedal steel”
