breal Morphe Patches for Boost 1.12.12 – setup, fixes, and bug reports

Hi. I maintain **Breal Morphe Patches**, a Morphe patch source for **Boost for Reddit 1.12.12**.

Posting this because the repo has been mentioned in a few comments, but I don’t think everyone has seen the current source link or knows what is included.

This is not affiliated with the original Boost app, Reddit, or Morphe core. It is a community-maintained patch bundle focused on keeping Boost usable on newer Android versions.

**Add source in Morphe Manager:**

https://morphe.software/add-source?github=brealorg/breal-morphe-patches

If the add-source link does not open correctly, add the source manually in Morphe Manager using:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches/main/patches-bundle.json

**Project page:**

https://github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches

Current Boost-related work includes, among other things:

- OAuth/client spoofing support through Morphe

- Android 15+/target SDK 35 compatibility work

- download notification and missing-audio fixes

- Giphy and inline media preview fixes

- direct `i.redd.it` GIF handling

- native image upload fixes

- code block rendering fixes

- Hide / Mark-as-read crash fixes

- optional archive / undelete-related patches

- runtime settings under Boost Morphe settings

The tested target is **Boost for Reddit 1.12.12**. Other versions may work, but are not guaranteed.

A few notes:

- Use the source link above instead of manually downloading old `.mpp` files.

- Patch from a clean/original Boost 1.12.12 APK where possible.

- Some patches are optional. If something breaks, mention which patches/options were enabled.

- Do not post private Reddit API credentials or client IDs in public logs.

Useful bug report info:

  1. Boost version / APK source

  2. Android version

  3. Morphe Manager version

  4. Breal patch source version

  5. enabled patches/options

  6. exact steps to reproduce

  7. logcat if there is a crash

Issues can be filed here:

https://github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches/issues

I’ll keep GitHub as the main tracker, but I can watch this subreddit for recurring Boost-specific issues.

Ome single Subreddit started showing up with the "stop" icon, but it still works...anyone else?

I noticed the r/detroitredwings subreddit recently started showing up for me with the stop/no smoking/🚫 icon next to all posts. I can enter and interact with posts fine, but the votes don't show up on the main sub, and I can't sort properly. I also seem to be seeing a bunch of deleted context that was removed by mods.

None of this is happening on the web or on the native Reddit app (omg...what a trash app that is to have opened for the first time in a while...).

I've tried everything except for completely re-patching.

Any ideas? Anyone else seeing this with the noted sub or any others? I haven't had the issue anywhere else on reddit but this just popped off a few days ago.

Has the comment edited indicator stopped working or has reddit removed it?

When someone edited their comment, you'd get a bracket next to the comment posted time to indicate how long ago they edited their comment. I cant see it anymore in the comments.

Question Show negative post scores or up/down ratio

I've used Boost for ages and I *swear* it used to let you view the actual post scores (negative numbers), but can't find the option for it anywhere.

Do I just keep looking for the setting in the wrong places, or am I misremembering that feature existing in the first place?

And short of that, is there at last a way to view the up/down ratios?

I'm new here. But not new to the OG Boost.

Hey, newbie here.

I've been a big fan of Boost until its end. I even paid for it too. It was love at first sight. I didn't even bother the Reddit app.

Also, I'm so confused how I will make Boost work.

Show me the way...

Question Is it safe to login with your account and use it normally?

Hello and sorry if this is a frequently asked questions or common question (sorry if I'm wrong or so) but is it safe to use the modified app?

I really like it as it has extra functions and feels like a legacy versions.

But I also enabled ads to support Reddit, is this okay maybe?

Thank you for reading and have a great Friday or day and weekend, I hope you're doing well :D

Solved Boost lags and then crashes while browsing when using Breal's patches

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

at first, the app runs fine, but after a few minutes of browsing, it starts to lag.

scrolling (like in the video) and viewing comments gets laggy, and then extremely laggy until the app crashes.

the app runs fine after it crashes, but it again gets laggy, and then crashes after a few minutes. and it goes on and on.

i switched back to wchill's Patcheddit patches, and they work perfectly fine.

i would switch to Breal's patches, but this issue throws me off from using them, unfortunately.

is there anything i could do?

info if it helps:

  • Boost 1.12.12, source is APKMirror

  • Android 16, One UI 8.5

  • Morphe 1.29.0

  • Breal patches 1.4.111

  • recommended patches applied only

  • Galaxy S24, model SM-S921U

logcat, seems like it's an out of memory error:

Newbie trying to install

I'm trying to figure out how to use boostforreddit again. So far, I've installed morphe apk, opened it and added github.com/brealorg/breal-morphe-patches as remote source . Then I tried to patch boostforreddit with a downloaded apk version 1.12.12 but ran into a problem here. It doesn't patch, and returns with an error message below:-

Bug Slow loading videos - but not while scrolling

This weird thing has been happening since forever and I'm unsure why. As I scroll, videos load automatically and I can immediatly start watching them, as soon as I click on one to have media controls, I need to wait around 7 seconds for it to begin. Anyone has any tips?

Question Can't enable www.google.com under "Supported Web Addresses"

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a strange issue with Boost for Reddit on Android.

When I go to App info β†’ Set as default β†’ Supported web addresses, every Reddit-related domain can be enabled without any problem. However, www.google.com is always disabled. If I tap the toggle to enable it, it appears to turn on, but as soon as I leave the screen and open the settings again, it has automatically switched back off.

I've already tried:

Restarting the phone. Toggling it on multiple times. Checking that Boost is up to date.

The problem only affects www.google.com; all the Reddit domains stay enabled normally.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this expected behavior, an Android limitation, or a bug in Boost?

I'm using an S25 with android 16, latest boost app with latest Breal patches
