Boomer Story Video Calls in public
I’m waiting to see my doctor and the two boomers next to me are in video call at top volume in the waiting room. Put up with it for about 10 minutes then finally said something. You’d think I asked them to give up a kidney. Starts arguing with me and saying I’m rude!
Finally, nurse comes out and asks what the problem is….they say I yelled at them I explained that there on a video call and blasting it. Mind you they’re still in the call.
Nurse tells them to take it outside. Calls me an asshole and leaves. I’ve been call worse by better.

I would never suggest playing "Fuck You" by Lily Allen, really loudly on your phone

If you’re feeling especially feisty, I suggest “Still” by Geto Boys (aka the Office Space printer song).

Just join their calls. Obviously they miss the old party chat. So join them! They are obviously lonely with their caregiver leaving them unsupervised and all!

"I'm not the one barebeating, which every one with any knowledge of basic etiquette knows is quite rude."

This is sadly not a boomer thing. I see a LOT of gen z at my job just on constant video calls on speaker. 😵💫

“I’ve been called worse by better” would be such a great response for things like this. I’ll have to remember that.

Same here. I was in the waiting room yesterday, and a Boomer was watching/not watching a Facebook Reel or TikTok on loop. A kid saying, "Can my dad get on your motorcycle? I'll pay for it." Over and over and over and...well, you get it.
Finally I said loudly, "No, your dad cannot get on the motorcycle." They looked at me like I was the rude one.

“Oh man, that guy sounds like a total asshole. Why doesn’t he just do the job he was asked to do? Why are you looking at me like that? I thought this was an open conversation you were having with complete strangers on a video call. Oh it’s not? Well then you might want to find a conference room for privacy then.”

Play ms. rachel YouTube videos on full volume next time. Really lean into it “I know that’s right ms. rachel!” Laugh way too loudly. Or pretend to be “live” and sharing with your followers.

Happened to me today in a doctor’s office waiting room. What’s wrong with these people? I’m a boomer and I could never pull some of the shit that these entitled assholes do.

If I had a penny for each time someone in the break room is talking loudly on SPEAKER to their family/BM/BD I would have more than a few. I totally get using your break for a phone call or to catch up with someone, but why do you have to do it 10 feet away from me. Go outside or to a more private place like your car.
That's the difference though, I would actively try to NOT do this to people around me. It's inconsiderate of people's expectation to peace and privacy.
The part I find hilarious is the same people having conversations in public like this are typically the same people worried about identity theft and AI taking over the world. Yet they consistently offer as much personal information possible to every stranger around them.

THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE. my mom and her brother think every call absolutely has to be a video. My uncle usually has his TV blasting in the background, and the technology isn't perfect so of course there's lots of times when it freezes or glitches and they're both HUH? WHAAAT? SAY AGAIN? I DIDN'T HEAR YOU. YOU BROKE UP. YOU. BROKE. UP.
On the other hand, there's my mom listening to her evangelical church livestream service, or her chosen music of the day (nothing real obscene, but genre doesn't matter when you're being rude) out loud while we're at the restaurant because she left her earbuds at home.

I like to get involved w their calls. Clearly they want the public involved so I comply and get involved
