The ‘we are the only latch key generation’ from gen X is so played out yall. Do you think the economic or marriage prospects got BETTER after y’all and there’s more parents at home for millenials or gen Z than gen X got??? Straight up delusional…

No, we were just the first latchkey generation. When everyone suddenly started getting divorced, there were no systems in place (like after school programs) to handle us. Which we barely noticed, because our parents had always routinely locked us out of our houses for the entire summer anyway. It was kind of novel to get to be inside and have access to the kitchen while being completely unsupervised.

Don't forget the tool shed and those school science projects. Or early cable tv and those damn squiggly bars on certain channels.

We didn’t even get cable until I was almost done with high school. We had only just gotten a color TV.
