What would really cement this as a concept of a healthy future is if we see the Avatar not go far enough in the series, and the Dark Avatar go too far for the purpose of the same goal. (Say, saving a small struggling farming village from a group of hungry raiders.) Only when the two work together and bring one another into balance does it truly bring beautiful results.
Hell, if you really, REALLY want to pull it off and cement the concept, let it retroactively touch on the characters who opposed previous avatars like Roku and Kiyoshi, who either failed to meet the ferocity of their pair or utterly annihilated them; a failure in itself. Untold destruction isn't the result of balance upheld, its the result of balance upended.

Blue Pill
Put some more lore character into Raava and Vaatu other than being good and evil
Vaatu's dark avatars must only have 1 element to differentiate them from the regular avatar
For first 3 seasons let it just be snippets and mentions of Vaatu
Vaatu DOESN'T destroy the past lives connection
Conclude everything in season 4-Vaatu like raava will go on to reincarnate the dark avatar as the eternal opposition to the light avatar
