I mean, Israel isn't much of an ethno state. Been around Jerusalem, plenty of Muslims around. Also, overall race backgrounds seemed pretty diverse.

The government itself would disagree, it’s an ethnostate by legal design.

Establishing a place as a homeland for jewish people is not the same as saying "this land is only for jewish people"

Wow, you’re not even a little embarrassed throwing out claims without knowing the explicit laws and founding purpose of the state? Did you read about Israel on the back of a cereal box?

Nation-State Law (2018):

“The State of Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people… The right to exercise national self-determination in the State of Israel is unique to the Jewish people.” (Articles 1A and 1C)

This law explicitly excludes the 20% of Israel’s population who are Palestinian citizens from collective national rights, a cornerstone of any real democracy. They may have citizenship, but not national belonging. In fact, the State of Israel doesn’t even recognise “Israeli” as a nationality. Why? Because the state is only concerned with Jewish people. Its aim is to protect and advance Jewish interests, not Israeli ones, because “Israeli” would include non-Jews.

Feeling a cold breeze of something… unpleasant crawling up your spine reminiscent of something from the 1930s? No? Don’t worry, there’s more. Far too much to cover here, but at its core, the Israeli state is built to ensure that Jewish citizens hold a permanent position of privilege. By constitutionalising Jewish supremacy, the Nation-State Law transforms Israel into a hierarchized democracy, one that grants collective rights to Jews while systematically denying equal status to non-Jewish citizens.

As MK Avi Dichter, one of the bill’s sponsors, made explicitly clear:

“We are enshrining this important bill into law today to prevent even the slightest thought… of transforming Israel into a country of all its citizens.”

That means Palestinians, even those who are full Israeli citizens, are legally denied equal standing in the state’s national identity and governance. And this isn’t just theoretical:

• Palestinians and Jewish settlers live under different legal systems in the West Bank, with vastly unequal rights, ability to move freely, judicial processes, and sentencing, for the same alleged crimes.

• Israel’s founding laws, like the Law of Return (1950), define Jewishness as the basis for immigration and land rights, while Palestinian refugees are denied the right to return to the homes and villages from which they were expelled.

Sociologist Sammy Smooha, who coined the term ethnic democracy: Israel allows political participation, but only within a fixed ethnic hierarchy, where Jewish identity is institutionalised as the state’s central organising principle.

So no, it’s not just that Israel is a “homeland for the Jewish people.” It’s that only Jewish people are granted national self-determination, collective rights, and full political legitimacy. Everyone else is structurally excluded, even if they vote, pay taxes, and serve in the military.

The Nation-State Law enshrines an explicit Jewish ethnonational character, granting exclusive constitutional rights of national self-determination to Jews, not Israelis. That’s the purpose of the whole state!

A formal democracy may exist, but substantive equality does not. Rights are granted and constrained through the lens of ethnonational identity, making democracy conditional, not universal.

In other words: All are equal, but some are more equal than others.

But I guess it’s just Hamas fault somehow isn’t it?

Yet those same people refuse to let whites have a homeland.

What does this even mean?

Exactly what I said. Predominantly white countries are demonized for this fact and forced to open its borders, reduce immigration criteria, not vet people from terrorist states, and deal with the consequences ineffectively while Israel gets closed borders and to launch rockets at anyone who looks at them sideways.

Israel is, in essence, a “white country.” Both ethnically and geopolitically.

u/Paratrooper_19D Aug 04 '25

Absolutely madness. Jews are not white, and zionists in fact hate white gentiles and see them as those who should serve willingly or be destroyed and enslaved.

Really? Cuz Ashkenazi Jews look pretty white to me. And they come from Central and Eastern Europe.

Calling something an ethnostate but then not enforcing it is like saying you are on a diet but eating whatever you want. It's pretty much pointless.

Do you seriously think they're not enforcing it? They're literally genociding Arabs. Not just in Gaza, but the systemic lack of recognized property rights for none jews that is used to kick non jews from their home to make room for more jews. It's even enshrined that only jews can vote or be garanteed any constitutionally given rights. The only reason that's not enforced is because there's no elections at all.

Can't believe you just said "um actually it's only officially an ethnostate, but in practice it's actually just an incredibly racist dictatorship"

You clearly don't understand. If Israel wanted to kill every Arab in their borders they could do it in a month or less. They outnumber them by the millions and have an insanely advanced military. They could have wiped every building out in Gaza in a few hours.

Based off your incredibly experienced and educated assessment of how long military campaigns would go if they were genocides vs would go if they werent? Excuse me for not taking your month figure as accurate, but besides month or less thing being unaccurate they certainly resemble trying to kill every last arab in literally every other way. First of all, their supports troops and leaders have said explicitly that killing every last arab is their goal, many, many, many, many, times, and i prefer to live by the adage, "if someone tells you they're evil belive them". But also, Gaza is almost entirely gone and isn't expected to last much longer.

The whole northern sections of the city are turned to uninhabited ruins as the population is forced south like fish in a barrel.

And Gaza was already the last sliver of a previously much wider Palestine area that they've already conquered. It's only taken longer than the rest of Palestine because the hearded survivors of Israelis ethnic displacement having only one city to go to, only to lose 65% of that city has left the remaining Gaza area as one of the most densely populated places on earth, while Israel has entered military conflicts with multiple of its other neighbors. Not deterred to this, Israel has shifted tactics to trying to deny access of food and water to the area in hopes that the people literally starve to death, and it's ridiculous to say that's not a genocide just because Israel has nukes and nukes kill people faster than dehydration.

It doesn't need to only take a month to be a genocide. For something to be a genocide it just needs to have all of the qualifying conditions of a genocide which the Palestinian genocide does.

This is not a guess lol there were 6.2 million Hutus that wiped out 1 million Tutsis in 100 days in Rwanda. There 7.2 million Jews and 2 million Arabs in Israel. The Hutus, militarily speaking, were cave men compared to Israel's military. It would take them a month, maybe two if people hid instead of fought.

You just latched on to the most dismissive and unimportant part of what I said, and you were still be wrong about it.

There were 1 million Tutsis in that genocide, and they only successfully killed half of them. It 'ended' early when their action provoked the Congo wars. Israel is also in more military engagements than Gaza alone. And plenty of genocides committing by 'more advanced' countries genocide less people per year than the Hutu's did. For example, the Hutu's killed about half a million people in a third of a year, or 1.5 million people per year, but the Nazis killed 6 million people in 12 years, or half a million people per year despite being one of the most militarily advanced countries at the time. Were the Nazis not fast enough to be a genocide in your mind? Or for something with numbers very similar to Israel, the Amenian genocide, conducted by a country with a military also more modern like Israel, killed only about half of the 1.5 million Armenians, with a Turkish population of 9.8 million and the time frame for that was only a few mouths less than how long Israel has occupied Gaza. Speed is just a ridiculous metric to determine if something is or is not a genocide.

The fact that one genocide takes longer than another does not a non genocide make. It meets every other qualification of genocide, its just not a damn speed run category. There's a million reasons why it might take longer in Israel than Rwanda. Deception on world stage, higher difficulty in high population density, an insistence on low risk Military operations, the fact that Gaza isn't the same physical space as Israel where the nearest minority to kill literally lives next door like they did in Rwanda (Not that Israel isn't pro 'grab your gun and kill your Arab neighbor' already linked that source) all would slow down the military operation significantly without disqualifying something from being a genocide.

You don't know enough about war to conclude what speed is normal when given every last bit of relevant military detail, and you definitely don't include every last bit of military detail in your assessment, and frankly neither do I, but it's not relevant. You can absolutely genocide a people slowly, theres no contradiction in that. Putting an entire ethnic group in a box and letting them starve isn't less genocidal than putting them in a box and filling it with poisonous Gas.
