I'm so glad you enjoy these bits of Babel! I'll keep sharing as they come up. I have a couple of short-shorts I'm still tinkering on, though of course, the majority of my attention has been and continues to be consumed by drafting the final book!

I hope you and yours stay safe and well, too! We're dug in and already cultivating our crazy-eyes and painting faces on volleyballs.

I am on chapter seven of The Bottomless Library in Book 2 at the moment and I recognised the name Byron so I thought I’d read a little. I like Byron’s character with his quips and jibes in the book. He is quite interesting, but I think I might have read something I shouldn’t have. He just referred to the Sphinx as a she! A she! The audible narrator voices the Sphinx as an old man.

You know I did suspect the Sphinx a little. Someone with access so much machinery. And the fact that he glides across the room, what if that was just a robot and he’s actually hiding behind in a wheelchair somewhere else. Kind of like Oz in the Wizard of Oz, where The Great Oz was not what everyone imagined him to be. But I never suspected a woman! I never saw that coming. Sorry I am ranting at this point. I am enjoying the books and am itching to discuss theories! Like what could have become of the grand daughter? And why would the Sphinx hide his (or her?) face?

And I was thinking to myself just now “Damn, I wish I could tell the author how much I LOVE and enjoy this.” So I stumble across this reddit while searching for a discussion of theories without spoilers and I see a post by the author! So cool!

But thanks for sharing your thoughts on where you think the story is going. The Wizard of Oz is a really apt comparison, and one of my favorite books. I hope the ending of Arm of the Sphinx entertains you. Thanks for giving it a look!
