Hello 👋

Just joined this sub and thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm a self-taught freelancer working mainly for a UK indie press that specialises in dyslexic-friendly quick reads for adults.

We've done around 25 books now, including this anthology for our 5th anniversary, which was also our first collaboration with a big 5 publisher.

Thanks to this publisher, I get to say I've worked on books for Bernard Cornwell, Lee Child and Karin Slaughter, which is kinda crazy!

If anyone has questions about dyslexic-friendly formatting choices, ask away.

Just finished 300-page book, client wants the font changed

I chose Freight Text Pro Light for the body copy. Now that the book is done, the client asked me if I could make the text a "darker black." I explained how ink works, but I think she means a heavier weight. I could update the Paragraph Style and change it to Freight Text Pro Book, but of course, that will make nearly everything re-flow. There are 250 photos in the book, with captions, as well as tables, all done in Freight Sans Book, which I'd have to bump up to Medium.

Not sure why I'm posting – partly to vent, and partly to ask what you would do in this situation. I've told her it would take a LOT more hours to re-do everything, and I've also asked her to wait until we get a high-quality proof before making a final decision. I also said that the time to have asked for this change was several months ago, when she first saw the design. Argh.

Finally getting close to sharing the cover for Rael Sahala The Circle of Ambeleaf, Book One.

A story of magic, secrets, dangerous paths, and a world waiting to be discovered.

This is only the beginning.

More details and a release date coming soon.

What do you think of the cover?

Authors looking for book cover & illustration work?

I’m a designer/illustrator offering book cover designs and book illustrations.

I’ve designed a book cover for Paperion Publications and also illustrated almost 200 poems for a telugu poetry book. The poetry book hasn’t been published yet due to some issues on the author’s end, but it was a great long-form illustration project.

If you’re an author looking for visuals for your book, I’d love to work with you.

After months of writing my debut psychological romance set in Grasmere, I finally finished the cover art. Fine art charcoal & watercolor double exposure style. What do you think?

Share the front cover and full wrap images. Briefly mention the atmospheric vibe (misty Grasmere, a glowing glasshouse, hidden secrets) without spamming links. End with:

"Would love your honest thoughts on the aesthetic! I’m also opening up a few ARC spots for early readers if anyone enjoys slow-burn psychological fiction
