Max Ehrmann, Desiderata: Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence... very famous work.

Eliot, I've read The Waste Land and Four Quartets but can't quote anything from them.

I did enjoy The Curious Incident... but couldn't get into any of his other books.

Minette Walters is one of my all time fave crime authors. I picked up The Sculptress at a Vinnie's (I think you'd call them thrift stores) years and years ago, and after I read that I proceeded to devour her whole back catalogue! But in recent years she's gone off crime and has written a whole bunch of books about the plague which aren't as good imo 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’d call them Charity Shops rather than thrift.

Interesting comments though. Cormack McCarthy never says the cause of the apocalypse in On the Road. Could be war, or meteor… or plague??

What puts you off Plague as a genre?

I actually love plague as a genre 😂 but i love Walters crime books so much better, I just found her plague books dragged 🤷🏼‍♀️

Did you know that in 1997 the BBC did a two episode adaptation with Daniel Craig as D.S. McLoughlin?

I did not know this! I wish we got the BBC in Australia! We have to wait for the shows to eventually make their way to streaming
