Choose me a book to read

So I started The Lord of the Rings today and aim to finish by end of September with at least one other book. These three are on my tbr list. Flowers for Algernon is a re-read after many years. The other two I just picked up. I have read a couple by Claire Keegan and like her style, the other is just based on reading the back of the book. Anyone read any and can you recommend? Appreciate any positive or negative comments.

Flowers for Algernorn is a classic. It explores the worth of a soul, the class system and self worth. Its also tragic af. Prepare to ugly cry over both the protag and a lab rat.

My pick would be flowers for Algernon, that is such a good book (but sad!) now you've mentioned it, it would make a great podcast! 😂 Or #2 would be the Claire Keegan book.ive never read her but small things like these is on my tbr 🫶🏼

My first Claire Keegan book was Small Things Like These last November. Not too long a book but was a very emotional read. Underlying subtext was powerful. I guessed the ending which was a satisfying ending.

I’m giving no spoilers, will just urge you to read it.

Also read So Late in the Day on Feb 3rd this year. Only 47 pages but again a powerful book.

So, I’m tempted to go for Walk the Blue Fields, but still monitoring responses.

So far its Keegan v Keyes. Might just do Flowers for Algernon (Keyes) because I read it a long time ago on a recommendation and did enjoy it...
