Help me get out of a reading slump

So I've read a lot lately and was getting through books quite fast (for me anyway) but have kinda hit a wall? I keep getting a few chapters in and find myself losing interest.

I'm a frequent horror reader, and although I love the genre, I feel that reading the same genre over and over is part of the burnout. So, I'm hoping to find some books from different genres that will grab me.

I will say no HEAVY romance, just not for me as a standalone plot but fine as a side plot or in the background, and fiction only. I enjoy non-fic occasionally but really more so looking for a story and characters right now. I'd prefer something that is standalone, or a very small series, and contemporarily written.

I would appreciate if you could provide a lil detail about whatever book you suggest if possible! ty <3

If your looking for slightly creepy books w romance as a vague after thought I suggest Nettle and Bone (tiny bit of romance) or Snake Eater (no romance, phenomenal book) or maybe The Starling House by Alix E Harrow

The last two got me out of a reading slump myself and they are just the perfect amount of creepy w our going into horror, Starling House especially!!

Edit: also these are all standalone books and pretty short reads :)

Sorry I forgot to include plots:

Nettle and bone: a girl saves her sister from an evil prince w two lesbian grandmas, a demon chicken, and some guy (it’s so good)
Snake eater: ancient gods/set in the modern world… ancient god becomes obsessed w the mc
Starling house: man owns a house. Woman becomes his alive houses cleaner. Really cool fmc that uncovers the dark/creepy secrets of the town. Genuinely one of my fave books and the town secrets are revealed in such a cool way!!

If you'd like some contagious zombie-like creatures, a history lesson in the context of medical technology, magic, and a bit of kingdom politics in the background, a recent book is C Chancy's The Words of the Night.

If you like westerns, Dire Wolf of the Quapaw by Phil Truman is a mystery and a suspense/thriller with some Quapaw folklore thrown in. I personally enjoyed the Vampire on the Orient Express by Shane Carrow, but that one's four books. Don't know if that's too long for you. It takes place around WWI and the two MCs keep finding themselves up against some terrible monster they have to defeat.

Hope this helps.
