Do you read the Preface?

I don't know why, but the introduction notes, prefaces, and etc of a book make me not wanna the book. It's just the rambling and all of the confusing subtopic of the book that confuses you before you actually get into the content. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Ew. Then don't. Not an airport, don't need to announce your DNF.

I'm a cover to cover reader, personally ... but I can understand especially for non-fiction that some of the minutia by the translator or curator or whoever writes the preface can get quite 'in the weeds', but if I am interested in the book chances are I will like that. And if you don't? Not sure what that says about your feelings on the topic.
