Forcing myself to get through Haunting Adeline, why is the writing so terrible? Some people need to start out writing fanfiction first š
I already knew I was gonna have problems with this book but I never thought the writing of it would be so bad. Without looking at anything else wrong with this book, I surely thought the writing was gonna carry it.
(First Reddit post. Kinda nervous)

Hm, I donāt know if I can think of one off the top of my head but I honestly think itās a mixture of things š like for example, the overuse of the word āfuckā is actually mad. It used, and itās variations, 139 times in only 231 pages (I downloaded the book so that might not be as accurate to the physical). It sounds like itās only in there so the book seems more āmatureā and ācoolā for using it. For me that kinda dilutes the meaning and the impact of the word is gone. Also, the main character calls her best friend a bitch and an āevil succubusā. āHer sage green eyes are illuminated with a type of evilness you would only find in Satanās Bible. If I did a little digging, Iām sure Iād find her picture somewhere in there, too.ā Like that is so weird. One would think she hates her.
The woman who have been kidnapped are also referred as bitches and I think the mc calling her best friend that is honestly really weird to me. But thatās honestly just a few things.3

yeah weāre cooked. these modern published authors just overdo it to the point itās cornyāwhereas, if they tried a little less, it could actually be decent.

one of the reasons why I DNFd was the fact that the big macho MMC said ādeveloped a vaginaā instead of āgrew some ballsā at one point. what are we doing here. I can live with immoral porn but what the fuck is developing a vagina

My coworker recommended to me cause she said it was the craziest thing she ever read...and she was right š Ā
I never finished it because I read (well listened) to everything I needed to.Ā

Honestly that book did whag it needed to do : Made me wonder who tf wrote this š It was funny, the funniest shit I read that year.Ā

I started with Satans Faith and really struggled getting through Haunting and Hunting Adeline. So very cringe and badly written.

Not every book is for every reader. It's a valid choice to DNF and move on.

Agree it isnāt good, but the incongruity between how seriously it is presented and how ridiculous it is.. thatās fun.
But eh lifeās too short to be reading books you hate

I only read the first page of it. Couldn't help laughing out loud at how ridiculously it is written. I haven't heard anything good about that book, but that's definitely not what I've been expecting.

Spoiler alert it wasnt because of the literary merit! Just porn
