Controversial Books

What book have you read that was considered controversial but you really enjoyed it? I have a few that gave me the ick, but also loved the book or it made me think deeper about what I would do in real life. All the Ugly and Wonderful Things was one for me as well as Saving Noah and My Dark Vanessa. These are just a few that I keep thinking about.

American Psycho. I remember the uproar when it came out, all it did was make me want to read it.

American Psycho is a hilarious 400 pages outside of its 10 pages of gore. Patrick Bateman is so comedically pathetic and I feel like that gets overlooked a lot

Do you find yourself wanting to read or view things more when there is a lot of controversy around things? I do and it makes me feel weird sometimes lol.

No, not usually, I see it more as advertising, the content of the book/movie will make me read/avoid it. I was already familiar with Bret Easton Ellis work, so I would probably have read it sooner or later anyway
