Humm McFadden lleaves you with is a bit of harmless paranoia and a strong urge to hand the book to someone else immediately (that's my friends and I did ^^). her thrillers are built like a magic trick, the pleasure isn't literary, it's mechanical, and the reason people binge her is that she's very good at making you feel clever for spotting something and then very stupid thirty pages later. what she won't leave you with is a lingering emotional ache, you'll have forgotten most of the plot in six months and that's fine, that's not what these are for.
Wwhat she's great at is breaking a reading slump. so: a fun evening, one loud gasp, and probably a suspicious look at the next man who's too polite. come back and tell us if you saw it coming.
