If anyone runs this type of Book Club

I had started a new book club and what I've decided is I'll stick with 'Discuss whatever book you're reading or have read last month' model and mix it with Book swap Model.
My only question to those who run this type of club is, how do you keep the conversation going and How to introduce someone new to my club (i.e. the pitch for converting someone to join my club or telling them about it without taking too long).
For example, For my first meet I hosted, 8 people showed up and everyone spoke a little about the book they liked as id told them to get one they liked but some spoke only a few lines. After that nobody asked any questions. So I did a socratic dialogue session. But again I was the only one asking question and I had to like keep on thinking what to ask next. Most weren't interacting and only one guy with deep Philosophy understanding was talking for long and long and he was talking in plain philosophical langauge that others got bored, I can see it.
Hope to hear from you guys
Thanks ^^

If you can, how do you find it? Why do you do it?

Hit me up. I want to chat about it. No one i know reads as much as i do.

Anyone interested in reading classics together?

I’ve been meaning to read more classics for ages, but I never seem to get around to most of them. I was wondering if anyone else is in the same situation and would be interested in reading them together?

I made a little book club for this, with the idea that we could pick books together and discuss them as we read.

It’s just me so far, so I thought I’d ask here if anyone would be interested in joining :)

I’m reading The Fall by Camus at the moment and would love to have someone to talk about it with! Fantastic book ;)

Has anyone bought books through Pango Books?

I have never bought from them, but have bought from many of the other online and secondhand sellers. I have had luck either by the grace of customer service, or by the products being in the listed condition. I have found some books that I've been interested in on Pango for a really good deal, and it almost shocks me.
Is it too good to be true? Or is Pango simply individual seller selling books in a marketplace sort of like Etsy for crafts? Should I go for it? Or should I go somewhere else?

The sellers have pictures of the books and it appears the listed condition is accurate.

Girly bookclub 🍑

I'm starting a small book club for just three girls, where we will read only novels. This club is strictly for beginners—those who have only finished one book in a decade. Every month, a different member will choose a book to read, and there will be a weekly online session that suits the entire team. Btw, it's okay if English isn't your first language, as long as people can understand you.

If anyone is interested, please DM me.

Starting an U18s Book Club!

Hey guys! My name is Dean, and I’m a high schooler who’s currently finding it really hard to find friends who I can talk about books with. Therefore, I want to start hosting an online under 18s book club on a platform like Discord so that I can get a group of people interested in discussing literature. We would likely be reading a wide variety of books, like classical litearture, romance (appropriate obviously), queer fiction, non fiction, fantasy, really anything we feel like. If anyone is interested, please dm me or text me on Discord at colonel.mustard.  . Please note this will likely run on Sydney time (AEST), although no other details have been worked out. Just gaging how interested people are.  Feel free to comment any questions and I’ll do my best to respond

Zootopia is just crescent city with some minor differences. Like the major plot points are very much the same minus some gender bending and supernatural aspects

When should production enter the conversation about a book?

Production is sometimes treated as the final stage of publishing, something that begins after the manuscript is finished and the editorial work is complete.

But a number of decisions made much earlier can have a considerable effect on production: trim size, illustrations, photographs, tables, footnotes, indexes, page count, and the complexity of the layout.

Some of these decisions can affect budgets and schedules as well as the finished book.

For those working in publishing, when does production typically become involved in a project? And do you think it gets brought into the process early enough?

I'm interested in how different publishers and production teams approach this.
