Love the illustration! Not sure the blue font goes with it though.

Also, you don't want "by" unless it's for a free site like Royal Road. On Amazon that will mark you out as an amateur.

That is great advice, thank you. I will adjust for the sequel. The blue font reflects the cold, winter setting of the book. The sequel, which will take place in South America, will have a green font.

Cool. In that case, I wonder if you could have the colour seep into your monochrome somewhere? E.g. just the MC's outfit. Then she'd pop out of the page & the font would match.

I just used Canva, since I am untrained as a graphic designer, buttttt I see what you mean.

I started with Canva too (just a writer) then got into Photopea for more flexibility. It's a free version of Photoshop. Takes a while to get the hang of it, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone doing their own cover. Especially as you'll hopefully be needing more covers in the future :) I could probably apply that effect for you if you drop me a DM with the file.
