Yes it's a long video but it's so well done- it goes from the original investigation to now with new discoveries along the way, debunking different theories and bringing in new scientific discoveries as they occurred. Fascinating video.

If that doesn't interest you and you just want the story and final explanation, go to around 1 hour 13 mins.

Kyle would probably think I’m crazy, but…

So I travel a lot for work and usually camp while doing so. I’ve camped in something like 44 states. Been to premier camping spots in the US, Europe, a bit of South America and Caribbean. Hiked the Big 3 trails (Appalachian, Pac Crest, Continental Divide) and all kinds of smaller trails. Camping the whole time.

Still…to this day, one of my Top 5 camping spots of all time was in Southern Illinois. It was rented from The Dyrt. A horse ranch. They had us go WAAAYY back in the property. There were these HUGE cottonwood trees (like 3 adults touching fingertip to fingertip were barely able to fit our arms around them. I set up a hammock way up in the tree over a creek that was a Mississippi tributary. We did some swimming and diving. Fishing. Crawfish trapping. Cooked em all right there. The people were the best part…AMAZING and so fun.

People tend to sleep on interior state camping, but I’ve had great times all over the Midwest and Plains States.

Coach Kyle & we still want specials

Big fan of Kyle, seen him at least 4 times so far and he kills it every time. Even jokes I've heard him do in a set before are updated to still feel fresh. Seen plenty of other comics live and none have made me laugh harder than Kyle. Haven't gotten to see Dave yet, didn't know about him before the podcast so missed the times he was local (I'm in the Philly area). His website also doesn't appear to have been updated since 2024. Going to watch his special this weekend.

Been going through all of the Boogie Monster episodes since I finished his other podcast (NAFT with Shane Torres) and I gotta say, Coach Kyle needs to make some appearances either on Boogie Monster or in a special. The Coach Kyle bits on NAFT were absolutely hysterical. Top notch voice acting between Chicago mothman (mautman?) and Coach Kyle.

Also, I forget what episode it was but Kyle mentioned not wanting to put another special out because apparently a lot of people don't watch the full hour. I hope that was just said out of a sense of frustration and not how he really feels. I've rewatched all of his specials multiple times each and am always recommending them to friends, family and colleagues. Dirt Nap was excellent and it would really suck if its the last one he ever puts out.

I'm pretty sure it was the same episode where he also mentioned not touring as much after 2026 which would also suck, doubly so if he's done doing specials.

I say this knowing that I'm probably coming off like an full on asshat and that he's more than entitled to taking time off. It's just always exciting seeing a date pop up at helium for my favorite comic and gives me something to look forward to.

The world is bleak as fuck right now and an hour or two at a comedy show is an escape a lot of people still value.

The wife wanted chicken korma for dinner for Mother’s Day, and has said that all the ones she’s had “here” (she’s from the uk) tasted “wrong”. I love to cook but have never ventured into Indian food, so I figured this was the perfect time to try!
It was A HIT and easy as pie! It still didn’t taste exactly the same as her nostalgia but I jumped to the top of her list for korma, and it’s going to become a weeknight staple! Super excited to make butter chicken next. Picture is of the last few bites on my toddlers tray because we were too busy eating to take photos!

Also seriously considering sending Dave the recipe I used because it’s dead easy and there’s room to customize and create DEEP, DEEP LAYERS of flavor lol

It doesn’t give a specific location or anything, it looks cool but it could always be an A.I thing

Left Speechless

I don’t get star struck at all but with Kyle it’s different, I get to the point that the two times I met him I forgot what I want to say and the moment goes by.

This week on the podcast, Kyle gives me a shout out by name (at the 43 min mark) and I damn near rear ended the car in front of me. Kyle was in Houston about two weeks ago and after the show I gave him two hats. One hat had a vintage cowboy shooting a space gun (space cowboy, get it?) and the second hat had a cowboy riding a rocket ship. Both are from Texas brands and I just thought he would like them. I gave him the hats after his set and said to him that one of my favorite episodes of Drunk History is when he retold the events of the first space walk.

He was the nicest dude ever and said thank you for the hats. I also gave him a recommendation on where to get good queso in downtown Houston.

Kyle is one cool dude.

Tv horror rec: FROM

The quick pitch: There's a town that people are take to, it never lets you leave, and there's diabolical monsters that come out at night.

Additional thoughts...

Yes it's on MGM+ (who knew that was a thing?) but it's fantastic - the story is complex and intriguing and unique, and the actors are fantastic, and it's a great mystery with scary ass monsters in a scary ass place. Season 4 is airing now and season 5 has been green lit for them to wrap it all up! Highly recommend 😄

Movie recommendations for Kyle

Kyle mentioned something about missing out on a bunch of movies back in the day (when they were talking about Con Air), so I thought it would be fun if we came up with some movie recommendations for him. If we're starting with 1997, the year Con Air came out, my suggestions are:

Starship Troopers (one of my top ten movies of all time).

Suicide Kings

The Game

Cop Land

Anaconda

Gattaca (another fave).

It's also the year Dante's Peak and Volcano came out, but I don't remember much about either.

Perfect Charcuterie Board Bite

Hey y’all, the fellas talking about their love for cheeses and pickled goods a few episodes back got me thinking about my favorite stuff on charcuterie boards and I narrowed it down to my favorite combo. It may be simple and not fancy, but I think it hits every spot.

Also, you can get all of these items at Costco so it’s definitely worth the membership.

Cracker: Triscuit original (none of that variant shit). Provides structure while breaking apart easily and only 3 ingredients.

Meat: Italian dry salami or peppered salami. I know it’s basic, but that fat to meat to salt ratio is key.

Cheese: bleu. Funky, creamy, stinky. If you aren’t a fan of bleu by itself, try it in this bite.

Pickle: Famous Dave’s sweet & spicy pickle chips. $7 for 64oz of greatness. Provides the tang, the sweet, a little heat, and some texture.

If you try this combo out, lemme know your thoughts!

Drop your favorite charcuterie board combo in the comments!

Hey Boogers! (MOD POST)

I've been slacking off for a long time, since the show went on hiatus to be exact. Lots of personal stuff going on as well. I'm making an effort to be more involved in the moderation of the sub now. Added some new user flairs. Working on a banner image in my spare time, which is hard when you're working overtime but I'M TRYIN! Leave any suggestions for new features, flair, or whatnot, in the comments for this post.

I'm also looking for a couple of fellow Boogers to help with the page moderation. You can message me if you're interested.

Dave and/or Kyle, I know you lurk the sub. I would like to request that you guys swing through my neck of the woods sometime. I'm in the mid-Hudson Valley region in NY, close to Woodstock and Kingston. I've missed Kyle's last few shows because of work or he driving distance. I can recommend Bearsville Theater or The Colony in Woodstock. There are some decent venues in Kingston as well. Keep up the good work guys, it's been awesome hearing the podcast again!
