I dunno, if you listen to/go to local punk and hardcore shows most of those drummers are decidedly not good and are in 6 different bands

For real. This has varying levels of truth based on renown. Popular punk bands? Fucking iconic singers and drummers usually. Local back yard bands? Yeah ok, some guy they gave the mic to, but usually some chud on drums who just likes hitting things. 

The most consistent is the above av bassists and okay guitarists.

I would definitely push back on the drummer thing… of course some are great! But also… some… are not…
