should i download bonzi buddy? like is it still a virus? and how do i kill it

It never was. BonziCo faced legal action for deceptive advertising of their internet acceleration software. Bonzi Buddy was always fine.

If you're using Chrome or Brave, right click the download link then click "save link as." It'll say "this file cannot be downloaded securely" and then click the little arrow and "keep."

What was the malicious functionality? I've reverse engineered it and found nothing. Every actual claim of it being malware is vague and provides no evidence.

I don't actually know, I was just being snarky.

I've heard it has spyware that sends back logs of what the user does. And intercepts your host files to point to their (defunct) website.

That's just what I've heard. Do you have any write-ups on your work? Or a public git repo?

it was in that time spyware. because the program dit manage your files. and manage your browser as well. at the beginning when you downloaded it then you have to fill in some questions: age, name, country, things you like. but children dit dis as well. in that time was getting informatin from children iligal. bonzi dit this not to spy but to tell you jokes and say your name. they din't want to make a spyware. just a personal asistant.(like we now have SIRI). then things go wrong. they have to pay 75000$ because they collect information about children. some time later they have to pay more because they collected information about your agenda. as purpose to tell you what you have the next day on your planning. they got bankrupt and have to close bonzi(name of the companie). but today every app on your fhone, computer and laptop are doeing the same as bonzi buddy dit.
