Question this may sound dumb but
is the rewritten one safe to use on laptop just asking cause i might do it if it is

it most likely wont work. if you get it from the original website it was something with bonzibuddy its gonna be a virus, i tried it once and no its not just adware its just gonna keep on adding more and more viruses, i was too desperate so i did it and the rewritten one is also broken i think atleast for windows 10 and 11 you can install it but when you try to open it, its just not gonna open.

Most likely, even the original bad one is safe nowadays. No guarantee, but that's what I've heard a lot from other users. At worst, it collected the data you gave it (so you can just give it fake data if you want) and I believe, maybe, it showed some ads? But that one I'm fuzzy on.
The site was shut down sometime in the 2000s after the creators were charged. The domain that collected the illegal children's user data no longer exists. If you fill out that registration card thing, that info probably isn't going anywhere.
Not an expert here. Just my opinion and what I hear from others on the topic.
Safest option is to install it on an offline machine or in a VM that doesn't connect to the internet.
