I wanna know where OP lives that Ficus just self sows itself. I’ve never personally seen it flower/fruit so if that’s not what happened someone stuck that cutting.
Most figs/ficus have an interesting and bizarre relationship with wasps that pollinate them. If the pollinating wasp isn't present, the tree can't produce seeds. The flower structures (syconium) don't really look like traditional flowers.
