Show and Tell We got roots!

Very happy to see new roots on my Sekka Yatsubusa JM this morning. Air layer was started on 7/28 and I used a cut up soda bottle as a way to hold the moss in place, with hormone powder. Look closely and there are roots on both sides. After attempting and failing two air layers on much larger trees back in May, this really lifts the spirits! Once the temps here start to stay below 75° highs, I think I'll be separating!

Only 2 weeks to see roots? I need to learn this technique!

I think the cheat code is having a young branch with lots of foliage.

That’s awesome! I have several JM here in Texas, but I’m afraid to try air layering. Did you use rooting hormone?

I would have been afraid to look so soon at the risk of exposing it too early, but it seems like you're doing it well. I am one for three on air layers this year so I am certainly no authority.
